Abstract
Artykuł podkreśla, że według J. Maritaina celem wychowania jest wspieranie i prowadzenie dziecka ku swemu ludzkiemu spełnieniu. Aktualność problematyki wychowawczej w ujęciu J. Maritaina to pogląd, że wychowanie to formowanie człowieka lub raczej kierowanie dynamicznym rozwojem, poprzez który człowiek kształtuje samego siebie w tym celu, aby być człowiekiem. Próba stworzenia takiego systemu oświatowego, który starałby się „wszystkiego nauczyć”, nie ma żadnego sensu. Wychowanie jest procesem zmierzającym do udoskonalenia człowieka w jego człowieczeństwie, a nie próbą upakowania w osobie całej wiedzy, umiejętności i doświadczeń zdobytych przez ludzkość w małej, zamkniętej, ograniczonej jednostce. Każdy człowiek ma swoje predyspozycje. Proces wychowania musi je uwzględniać, dopomagać w ich rozwijaniu. Pomimo pewnych ogólnych wzorców «osobowej pełni», każdy ma prawo w szerokim zakresie odnajdywać swoją drogę do dojrzałości ludzkiej.
The article emphasises that, according to J. Maritain, the purpose of education is to support and guide the child towards his human fulfilment. The actuality of the problem of education in J. Maritain's terms is to point out that education is the formation of man, or rather the guidance of the dynamic development through which man shapes himself in order to be man. Trying to create an educational system that tries to "teach everything" makes no sense at all. Education is a process aimed at perfecting the human being in his or her humanity, not an attempt to pack all the knowledge, skills and experiences acquired by mankind into a small, closed, limited individual. Each person has his or her own predispositions. The process of upbringing must take these into account, help to develop them. In spite of certain general patterns of "personal completeness", everyone has the right to find his or her own way to human maturity within a wide range.
