Abstract
The Church accompanies families in sexual education, which is presently
a strongly debated anthropological dispute, concerning the concept of man and his
vocation. Pastoral care seeks to promote men and women in their gender-based life
and in the discovery and realization of their God-given vocation. It is helpful to
understand human sexuality as an integral dimension of a person’s life. It helps to
treat sexual education as educating a person for love, understood as a gift of self. This
education is only possible in close connection with moral and religious education.
Church activities also support families in creating the conditions for sexual education.
Through parents and other mature people who help them and sometimes even
substitute for them in this role, the Church helps children and adolescents in the
adoption of their own sexual identity, sexual integration as well as their personal
and religious-moral maturity. The moral and religious development of parents and
their competence as educators is supported with the help of natural and supernat ural means. At the same time, the Church also directly supports the children in the
different stages of their development, helping in their self-education.
