Abstract
Podejmując próby wyjaśnienia genezy i przebiegu ASD aktualnie badacze koncetrują swoje zainteresowania wokół procesów poznawczych osób z tym zaburzeniem. Wskazywane są relacje tych procesów z behawioralną ekspresją objawu. Niewystarczająco zanalizowany pozostaje jednak wspólny udział różnych procesów poznawczych w wyjaśnianiu nasilenia symptomów ASD. Celem projektu jest ustalenie czy związek poziomu reaktywności sensorycznej z nasileniem symptomów ASD jest mediowany poprzez elementy Mechanizmu Teorii Umysłu (ToMM). Realizując powyższy cel przeprowadzono badania w grupie 89 dzieci z diagnozą ASD w wieku między 2 lata 8 miesięcy a 9 lat 3 miesiące oraz ich rodziców/opiekunów. Wykorzystano następujące narzędzia pomiarowe: Skalę Nasilenia Symptomów ASD, Kwestionariusz Doświadczeń Sensorycznych, Skalę Mechanizmu Teorii Umysłu oraz podskalę Mowa Bierna z IDS-P. Zaobserwowano relację między nasileniem symptomów ASD a poziomem reaktywności sensorycznej, a także udział w niej poziomu rozwoju elementów ToMM, który pozostaje zróżnicowany zer względu na poziom rozumienia mowy. Obserwacje te sugerują, że dla wyjaśnienia istoty ASD bardziej precyzyjne okazują się analizy prowadzone na poziomie podgrup niż całej grupy. Takie wnioski z kolei dostarczają ważnych wskazówek dla terapeutów przy planowaniu rehabilitacji osób z ASD.
To explain the origin and course of ASD, researchers are currently focusing on the cognitive processes of people with this disorder. However, relations between these processes and behavioral expression of ASD symptoms are indicated, the joint participation of various cognitive processes in explaining the severity of ASD symptoms still remains insufficiently analyzed. The aim of this project was to determine whether the relationships between the severity of ASD symptoms and sensory reactivity level is mediated through level of development of elements of the Theory of Mind Mechanism (ToMM). To achieve this aim it was conducted a study in a group of 89 childern diagnosed with ASD between the age 2 years 8 months and 9 years 3 months and their parent/guardians. The following measuring tools were used: ASD Symptom Severity Scale, Sensory EXperience Questionnaire, Theory of Mind Mechanism Scale and IDS-P Speech Understanding subscale. It was observed the relationship between the severity of ASD symptoms and the sensory reactivity level. The participation the level of development of ToMM's elements in this relationship was varied due to the level of speech understanding. These observations suggest that the analyzes at subgroup level are more precise, to explain the essence of ASD, than those for the whole group. Such conclusions provide important clues for therapists when planning the rehabilitation for people with ASD.
