Działalność Zgromadzenia Służebnic Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego na kieleckiej Karczówce w latach 1918-1972

Abstract

Artykuł przedstawia okoliczności przybycia Zgromadzenia Służebnic Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego, założonego w 1894 roku przez bp. Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara, do Kielc, na Karczówkę oraz działalność sióstr w latach 1918-1972, obejmującą pracę wychowawczo-opiekuńczą i wydawniczą, realizowaną w ramach założonej na Karczówce Drukarni św. Józefa. Podejmuje także próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób działalność Drukarni św. Józefa wpłynęła na realizację charyzmatu zgromadzenia w kontekście zmieniających się realiów polityczno-społecznych. Bazę źródłową artykułu stanowią dotychczas nieudostępniane dokumenty archiwalne zdeponowane w Archiwum Głównym Zgromadzenia Służebnic Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego w Krakowie, Archiwum Diecezjalnym w Kielcach oraz Archiwum Akt Nowych w Warszawie. Całość uzupełnia odtworzony wykaz sióstr posługujących na Karczówce w okresie działalności tego domu zakonnego oraz spis przygotowanych i wydrukowanych przez nie publikacji książkowych.

This article explores the circumstances surrounding the arrival of the Congregation of the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - founded in 1894 by Bishop Józef Sebastian Pelczar - in the Karczówka district of Kielce, and examines the sisters' activities between 1918 and 1972. The article discusses their educational, aregiving and publishing work, the latter conducted through the St Joseph Printing House established in Karczówka. It also explores how the Printing House contributed to the implementation of the congregation's charism amid evolving political and social contexts. The source material for this study comprises previously unpublished archival documents preserved in the Main Archives of the Congregation of the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Kraków, the Diocesan Archives in Kielce, and the Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw. The study is supplemented by a reconstructed register of sisters who served in Karczówka during the convent's operation, as well as a list of books prepared and printed by them.
