dc.description.abstract	The paper addresses the topic of corporal acts of mercy as spiritual duties. It does not interpret the individual seven acts from the catechism list (six taken out of the gospel parable of Matt 25:35-40, the seventh added from the Book of Tobit, passim), but it refers to the spirituality of this set, taken from inspirations originating with God. In the first part, the Creator was shown as the only Good, in the very act of creation and in the merciful relationship towards sinners. Then, the caritas/agape was indicated as the key to the appreciation of body, essentially connected with the mystery of Incarnation and Redemption and practised in interhuman relationships by taking into consideration the dignity of body and meeting life-sustaining needs. According to Benedict XVI: “Christian charity is first of all the simple response to immediate needs and specific situations: [there is an obligation - sic!] to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for and heal the sick, visit those in prison, etc.” (Encyclical Deus Caritas est, n. 31a). In the last part the acts of mercy were shown in the dynamics of the gospel, leading to the conclusion that in the ministry of mercy spiritual competences have priority over financial resources. Christ's disciple practises faith, so to speak, in a “materialist” way, motivated by the fact that the Lord, being Spirit (cf. Jn 4:24; 2 Cor 3:17) became closely united with matter and ultimately qualifies the competence of human spirit according to the measure of deeds.	pl
