Kronika Bernada Wapowskiego jako źródło De origine et rebus gestis Polonorum Marcina Kromera. Trasnformacje historiograficzne

Abstract

Wapowski i Kromer pisali swoje dzieła o tematyce historycznej w dobie renesansu. Omówili dzieje Polski od legendarnych początków do pierwszych lat XVI w. Celem pracy jest porównanie omawianych pisarzy poprzez analizę analogicznych fragmentów ich tekstów, a następnie udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie o zależność Kromera od piszącego wcześniej Wapowskiego. W rozdziale pierwszym - "Wapowski, Kromer, ich czasy i dzieł" przedstawiono krótkie biografie obu autorów, a także omówiono podstawowe założenia renesansowej teorii historiografii. W rozdziale drugim zatytułowanym "Podstawowe kategorie literackie w dziełach Wapowskiego i Kromera" opisano trzy najważniejsze elementy dzieła historycznego - opowiadanie, charakterystkę bohatera i ujawnianie się autora -narratora. Kromer wydaje się historykiem bardziej rzetelnym i mozna go okreslić terminem explanator rerum (ten, kto wyjaśnia historię). Ostatni rozdział zawiera charakterystykę języka i stylu dzięł Wapowskiego i Kromera. Młodszy z pisarzy był zdolniejszym literatem, wydaje się jednak, że swoje dzieło pisał, mając przed oczami tekst Wapowskiego. Wykorzystał go jako bazę do stwrzenia nowego opisu dziejów Polski, w czym pomógł mu własny talent i nowatorskie metody pracy. W zakończeniu podkreślono ścisłą zależność Kromera od Wapowskiego, ale też to, że był on jednocześnie oryginalnym pisarzem, który stworzył wybitne dzieło.Wapowski and Kromer wrote their historical books in the time of renaissance. They described the history of Poland from the legendary beginnings to the early 16th century. The purpose of this work was to compare discussed writers by analysing the analogical fragments of their texts and then to answer the question about Kromer's dependence on older writer Wapowski. In chapter one, "Wapowski, Kromer, their times and works, short biographies of these writers were presented, then the thory of historiography ruling in the time of renaissance was described. The second chapter "The basic litterary categories in the works of Wapowski and Kromer" - discusses three of most important aspects of historiography - narration, characteristic of the historical figures and author-narrator. Kromer seems to be more reliable historian and can be called explanator rerum - a man who explains the history. The last chapter contains the characteristic of language and style of Wapowski and Kromer. The younger author was more talented writer, but it seems that he sometimes wrote his book having the Wapowski's work in his hands and using it as a base to create new description of Polish history by adding his own skills and new methods of work. In the summary it is stressed again that Kromer strictly depended on Wapowski and that he in the same time was great writer creating his own, orginal work.
