"Officium rhytmicum" o św. Pawle Pierwszym Pustelniku w przedtrydenckiej tradycji. "Ordinis Fratrum Sancti Pauli Primi Eremitae". Studium liturgiczno-muzykologiczne
Abstract
Przedmiotem rozprawy jest "officium rhytmicum" o św. Pawle Pierwszym Pustelniku, które jest częścią paulińskiej liturgii. Celem badawczym pracy było ukazanie od strony liturgicznej i muzycznej oficjum rymowanego o św. Pawle Pierwszym Pustelniku z Antyfonarza z Zagrzebia MR-8 w świetle własnych zwyczajów paulinów do Soboru Trydenckiego. Muzyka kompozycji rymowanych ku czci św. Pawła Pierwszego Pustelnika jest przykładem chorału neogregoriańskiego, który wpisany w ramy dnia liturgicznego zakonników paulińskich stanowi ważną część ich dziedzictwa kulturowego, a także szczególną częścią pustelniczej tradycji zakonu, odzwierciedlonej w jego przedtrydenckich konstytucjach oraz pismach ascetycznych autorów paulińskich, które opisują zwyczaje mnichów w ramach celebracji zakonnego Officium Divinum w czasach przedtrydenckich. Rymowane teksty liturgiczne "officium rhytmicum" o św. Pawle czerpią inspirację z hagiograficznego dzieła Vita Pauli św. Hieronima, które było źródłem i początkiem wyjątkowego charyzmatu paulińskiego. Badania wykazały, że treść hieronimowa przez autora oficjum paulińskiego została ponadto ubogacona o duchową symbolikę średniowieczną odzwierciedloną w toposach literackich. Dzięki temu te liturgiczne teksty poetyckie wpisane w ramy dnia świątecznego zakonników stanowiły zarówno podstawę lectio divina mnichów, jak i stawały się „homilią hagiograficzną” dla ludu Bożego, który przychodził na nabożeństwo, aby uczcić ich Patriarchę. Teksty "officium rhytmicum" o św. Pawle Pierwszym Pustelniku połączone z muzyczną estetyką chorału neogregoriańskiego były dla mnichów nie tylko liturgicznym uwzniośleniem czci ojca i patriarchy ich zakonu, lecz także umocnieniem jego pustelniczej tożsamości, której fundamentem jest św. Paweł Pierwszy Pustelnik.
The subject of this dissertation is the "officium rhytmicum" on St. Paul the First Hermit, which as part of the Paulin liturgy. The research aim of this study was to present the liturgical and musical aspects of the rhymed Office on St. Paul the First Hermit from the Zagreb Antiphonary MR-8 in the light of the Pauline Order’s customs up to the Council of Trent. The music of the rhymed compositions in honour of St. Paul the First Hermit is an example ofNeo- Gregorian chant, which, being a part of the liturgical day of the Pauline monks, is an essential part of their cultural heritage, as well as a special part of the hermit tradition of the order, reflected in its pre-Tridentine constitutions and the ascetic writings of Pauline authors, which describe the customs of the monks within the celebration of the monastic Officium Divinum in pre-Tridentine times. The rhymed liturgical texts of the officium rhytmicum about St. Paul draw inspiration from the hagiographical work Vita Pauli by St. Jerome, which was the source and origin of the unique Pauline charism. Research has shown that the Hieronymous content by the Pauline Office’s author was enriched by medieval spiritual symbolism reflected in literary topos. In this way, these liturgical poetic texts embedded in the framework of the monks’ feast day constituted the basis of the Lectio Divina of the monks. However, they became a „hagiographic homily” for the people of God who came to the service to honour their Patriarch. For the monks, the texts of the "officium rhytmicum" on St. Paul the First Hermit combined with the musical aesthetics of Neo-Gregorian chant were not only a liturgical elevation of the veneration of the father and patriarch of their order but also a reinforcement of its hermit ic identity, of which St. Paul the First Hermit is the foundation.
