Abstract
Dysertacja dotyczy problemu tożsamości w najnowszej polskiej prozie o migracji Polaków na Wyspy Brytyjskie. W części teoretycznej opisuję kontekst socjologiczny i problem tożsamości we współczesnej humanistyce. Za klucz do interpretacji obieram teorię postkolonialną, w kondycji postkolonialnej widząc istotną cechę tożsamości podmiotów migracyjnych, przybywających do zachodniej metropolii (locus democraticus) z kraju byłego bloku komunistycznego. W dysertacji poszukuję odpowiedzi na pytania: jakie czynniki kształtują tożsamość polskich migrantów i jakie warianty tożsamość ta przybiera. W tym celu analizuję motywy wyjazdów migrantów, konfrontację ich oczekiwań z rzeczywistością, relacje z Innymi (Brytyjczykami, Irlandczykami i migrantami ekonomicznymi z innych krajów) zdeterminowane stereotypami, a także literackie reprezentacje polskiej diaspory, uwzględniając stosunek migrantów do kraju pochodzenia, rodaków podzielających to samo doświadczenie, jak również zagospodarowywaną przez migrantów przestrzeń. Tożsamość podmiotu migracyjnego, kształtująca się pod wpływem kreolizacji, hybrydyzacji i negocjacji, przybiera cztery rodzaje: tożsamość postkolonialnego upokorzonego, nomady-kosmopolity, self-made woman i tożsamość „pomiędzy”. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że jednoznaczna odpowiedź na pytanie: kim jestem? nie jest jeszcze na tym etapie migracji możliwa. Tożsamość zawieszona między postkolonialnymi kompleksami a kosmopolityczno-globalistycznymi inklinacjami, podlega procesom, które nie doprowadziły jeszcze do okrzepnięcia w formę tożsamości postnarodowej.
The dissertation concerns the problem of identity in the latest Polish prose about the migration of Poles to the British Isles. In the theoretical part, I describe the sociological context and the problem of identity in the contemporary humanities. I choose the postcolonial theory as the key to interpretation, seeing in the postcolonial condition an important feature of the identity of migrant subjects arriving in the western metropolis (locus democraticus) from the country of the former communist bloc. In my dissertation I am looking for answers to two main questions: what factors shape the identity of Polish migrants and what variants this identity takes. To this end, I analyse the motives of migrants' departures, the confrontation of their expectations with reality, relations with others (British, Irish and economic migrants from other countries) determined by stereotypes, as well as literary representations of the Polish diaspora, taking into account the attitude of migrants to their country of origin, compatriots sharing the same experience, as well as the space developed by migrants. The identity of the migratory subject, shaped under the influence of creolization, hybridization and negotiation, takes on four types in this work: the identity of the postcolonial humiliated, the nomad cosmopolitan, the self-made woman and the identity "in between". The analysis shows that the unambiguous answer to the question: who am I? is not yet possible at this stage of migration. An identity suspended between postcolonial complexes and cosmopolitan-globalist inclinations is subject to processes that have not yet led to a solidification into a form of post-national identity.
