Plutarch z Cheronei: Żywot Artakserksesa

Abstract

Niniejsza praca jest edycją dzieła Plutarcha z Cheronei pt. „Żywot Artakserksesa”. Składa się ona ze wstępu, tekstu starogreckiego źródła, pierwszego polskiego przekładu źródła oraz komentarza filologiczno-historycznego. We wstępie (s. 9-44) omówione przede wszystkim zostały stan badań oraz kwestie najważniejszych źródeł Plutarcha a także datacji samego źródła. Po wstępie następuje „Część I” (s. 45-89) zawierająca równolegle tekst grecki oraz autorski przekład źródła. „Część II” (s. 91-532) zawiera natomiast komentarz filologiczno-historyczny, gdzie według podziału na rozdziały w źródle analizowane są najpierw zagadnienie datacji wydarzeń opisanych w nim oraz kwestię zależności konkretnych partii tekstu od konkretnych źródeł Plutarcha; a następnie wyjaśniane zagadnienia szczegółowe. Pracę kończy bibliografia (s. 533-612), a także spis 16 ilustracji wykorzystanych w pracy (s. 613).This critical edition of the Life of Artaxerxes by Plutarchus of Chaeronea comprises an introduction, the text of Plutarch’s analysed work in the original Greek, the first (and only) Polish translation and accompanying philological and historical commentaries. The introduction (p. 9-44) consists chiefly of the review of status quaestionis, its focus being on dating Plutarch’s text. Subsequently, Part One (p. 45-89) juxtaposes parallel texts in original Greek and translated Polish. Part II, a philological and historical commentary, divides into 30 chapters, one per each corresponding chapter of the Life of Artaxerxes. The author of the commentary proceeds chapter by chapter, dating events referred to in the text, considering Plutarch’s sources and other issues pertinent to discussed chapters and passages. The book ends with a references section (p. 533-612) and a list of 16 figures found throughout the text (p. 613).
