Abstract
Tom Filozofia kultury, wydany w ramach serii Dydaktyka Filozofii, ukazuje człowieka jako twórcę kultury, choć wprost podejmuje wątki należące do wszystkich jej wymiarów, czyli nauki, sztuki, moralności i religii.
The volume Philosophy of Culture, published as part of the Didactic of Philosophy series, shows man as the creator of culture, although it directly takes up threads belonging to all its dimensions, i.e. science, art, morality and religion. The emphasis was placed on revealing the essence of the phenomenon of culture itself, its social determinants, as well as its relation to civilization, and above all to its contemporary transformations. An equally important element of the present volume is the presentation of the specificity of artistic activity, as well as - even if only modestly - the phenomena of technology. The second part discusses the eponymous "meanders of contemporary culture and art", starting from indicating their historical and then social foundation, also showing the importance of local cultures, including folk and national culture. It points to the need to internalize culture in the process of education and upbringing, and to notice the aspective untranslatability of individual cultures, and in this context, a dialogue, the model of which can be found in the Gospel, requiring, inter alia, going beyond the framework of Eurocentrism, with its social and political consequences. By broadly discussing "trends in contemporary culture", which are many and often intertwined, he points to such selected but important phenomena as the globalization of culture, the phenomenon of popular culture. It shows not only the role of culture in the ubiquitous media, leading to the "civilization of information", but also on its new paradigm, which is cyberculture, developing especially thanks to the Internet. An important element of this part is the issues classified in various traditions, either to the philosophy of art or to aesthetics, discovering the specificity of the aesthetic or beauty sphere as a category that is at least important for traditional art, and finally paying attention to the relationship between art and nature, which it either imitates, or it emphasizes creative autonomy. The issue of the specificity of religious art, which for centuries had a fundamental meaning in the history of art, was discussed in more detail, asking about the possibility of its implementation in the visual arts or literature, and finally showing the dilemmas related to creative freedom and protection against its moral and religious deviations.
