Abstract
Rozprawa doktorska koncentruje się na trzech podstawowych aspektach kapłaństwa: tożsamości, misji oraz posługiwe wspólnocie Kościoła w Nigerii. Metodologia przyjęta w badanaich uwzględnia interdyscyplinarne ujęcie tematu, które wymaga połączenie podejścia systematyczno-teologicznegi i duszpastersko-praktycznego. Rozprawa doktorska składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Rozdział pierwszy koncentruje się na katolickiej Tradycji, która wiąże tożsamość i misję kapłana z tożsamością i misją Jezusa Chrystusa., Proroka, Kapłana i Króla, oraz na szczególnym powołaniu wyświęconego kapłana do działania w osobie Chrystusa jako Głowy i Pasetrza Kościoła (in persona Christi Capitis) i do służby wspólnemu kapłaństwu wszystkich ochrzczonych. Rozdział drugi dotyczy urzędu kapłana jako proroka i nauczyciela Słowa Bożego, którego cechą charakterystyczną jest wierność prawowiernej doktrynie. Rozdział trzeci ukazuje uświęcające funkcje kapłana, zwlaszcza w jego roli przewodniczącego celebracji eucharystycznej . Czwarty i ostatni rozdział dotyczy roli kapłana pełniącego urząd Chrystusa jako pasterz i sługa-przywódca (sevant-leader), który jest gotowy i chętny oddać swoje życie za lud.
The doctoral dissertation focuses on three core aspects pf priesthood: identity, mission, and ministry in the Nigerian Church. The methodology adopted in this research takes into consideration the interdisciplinary coverage of the topic that calls for a combination of systematic-theological and pastoral-practical approaches. The main body of this doctoral dissertation consists of four chapters. The first chapter focuses on the Catholic tradition of relating the identity and mission of the priest to that to Jesus Christ, the Prophet, Priest, and King, the special designation of the ordained priest being his acting in the pesron of Christ as Head and Shepherd of the Church (in pesrona Christi Capitis), and being at the service of the common priesthood of all the baptized. Chapter two is an examination of the office of the priest as prophet or teacher of the word of God whose characteristic mark is faithfulness to the orthodoxy of doctrine. Chapter three is an investigation into the sanctifying functions of the priest, especially in his role as the president at the Eucharistic celebrations. The fourth and final chapter dwells on the priest carrying on Christ's office as pastor and servant-leader, who is ready and willing to give his life for the people.
