- ItemChanges in the Religiosity of Secondary School Youth in Poland. A Sociological Analysis(Wydawnictwo KUL, 2023) Adamczyk, TomaszThe results of sociological studies on the transformation of religiosity indicate the deeper changes that have been taking place in this sphere in recent years. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the religious transformations of the youth, as they can be regarded as a kind of barometer foreshadowing future development trends. The article shows the religiosity of secondary school students in Puławy. The empirical material used for the sociological analyses was collected during surveys carried out in 1994, 2009, 2016 and 2021, in the same secondary schools in Puławy, using the same survey questionnaire entitled “Secondary school graduates and moral values.” This article attempts to answer the research question of what changes have taken place over nearly 30 years in the religiosity of the surveyed youth, what direction these changes are taking and what is the pace of these changes. The following indicators were chosen to outline the religiosity of secondary school students: religious and religious self-declarations, religious practises, religious commitment. Wyniki badań socjologicznych dotyczących przemian religijności wskazują na głębsze zmiany, jakie dokonują się w tej sferze w ostatnich latach. Warto więc zwrócić uwagę na przemiany religijne młodzieży, gdyż mogą być one traktowane jako swoistego rodzaju barometr zapowiadający przyszłe trendy rozwojowe. W artykule została ukazana religijność młodzieży maturalnej w Puławach. Materiał empiryczny wykorzystany do analiz socjologicznych został zebrany podczas badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w latach 1994, 2009, 2016 oraz 2021, w tych samych puławskich szkołach ponadpodstawowych, za pomocą tego samego kwestionariusza ankiety pt. „Maturzyści a wartości moralne”. Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytania badawcze, jakie zmiany dokonały się na przestrzeni blisko 30 lat w religijności ankietowanej młodzieży, jaki przybierają one kierunek, a także jakie jest tempo tych przemian. Do nakreślenia religijności młodzieży maturalnej zostały wybrane następujące wskaźniki: autodeklaracje wyznaniowe i religijne, praktyki religijne, zaangażowanie religijne.
- ItemManifestations of cancel culture in relation to the Roman Catholic Church in Poland. A case study of selected weekly opinion journals(Uniwersytet Komisji Edukacji Narodowej w Krakowie, 2023) Białek-Szwed, Olga; Pastwa, Rafał Jakub; Wójciszyn-Wasil, AnetaThe aim of the article is to examine the media strategies of contesting the Roman Catholic Church in Poland on the example of three Polish opinion weeklies: "Polityka", "Newsweek" and "Tygodnik Powszechny". The period of our search was set at twelve months, starting from the outbreak of protests on October 22, 2020. On the basis of the media material analyzed above, three main strategies of contesting the Roman Catholic Church in the Polish opinion-forming press were identified: 1) exposing the negative aspects of the analyzed issues; 2) profiling of interlocutors and interviews; and 3) lexical and visual content modeling techniques. Celem artykułu jest zbadanie medialnych strategii kontestacji Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego w Polsce na przykładzie trzech polskich tygodników opinii: „Polityki”, „Newsweeka” i „Tygodnika Powszechnego”. Okres naszych poszukiwań ustalono na dwanaście miesięcy, począwszy od wybuchu protestów 22 października 2020 roku. Na podstawie analizowanego powyżej materiału medialnego zidentyfikowano trzy główne strategie kontestacji Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego w polskiej prasie opiniotwórczej: 1) eksponowanie negatywnych aspektów analizowanej problematyki; 2) profilowanie rozmówców i wywiadów; oraz 3) leksykalne i wizualne techniki modelowania treści.

Sie sind oft die Verlierer des wirtschaftlichen Fortschritts. Das Problem der „Eurowaisen “überfordert vielfach die Erziehungs-und Hilfeeinrichtungen und sorgt für kontroverse Debatten in Medien und Wissenschaft. Millions of east Europeans left their homes to find better paid jobs in western countries of the EU. This migration can promote individual advancement and national economies. For the left behind children it often becomes a burden on psyche, socialisation and education – children often carry the humanitarian impact of economic upturn. The problem of “Euro orphanhood” is overstraining educational and social help institutions in the countries of origin and causing public as well as scientific debates.
- ItemThe birth and demise (?) of the American era: Wilsonianism and its legacy vs. the US international strategy(Instytut Zachodni im. Zygmunta Wojciechowskiego, 2022) Podraza, AndrzejThe main goal of this paper is to analyse continuity and change in American foreign policy with special emphasis on President Woodrow Wilson’s approach and its impact on the US international strategy during World War II, the beginning of the Cold War and in the post-Cold War era. It is argued that Wilson’s approach was not created in a vacuum and although it put an end to the era that was inspired by President George Washington’s farewell address from 1796, it fits very well in the traditional thought regarding the American people and mission, as well as other elements that are at the core of US international activity. Wilsonianism, understood as liberal internationalism, has been a very influential concept in the development of American foreign policy for decades and during World War II it contributed to the rise of the American era in international politics. Due to the transformation of the global order after the end of the Cold War and also in the wake of the Donald Trump presidency, it may be considered whether or not the American era has come to an end. The analysis of US foreign policy takes into account both liberal theory, referred to by Woodrow Wilson, as well as realism theory, associated with Wilson’s predecessor, President Theodor Roosevelt.

Podejmowane we wszystkich obszarach rozwoju dziecka od wczesnych lat służą kształtowaniu fundamentu dla całego jego życia i doskonalenia osobowego. W czasie dynamicznych przemian społeczno-kulturowych, trudnych wydarzeń i postępującej sekularyzacji, konieczne jest doskonalenie praktyki wczesnego wychowania. W harmonijnym wspieraniu całościowego rozwoju dziecka i jego ukierunkowaniu zgodnie z wrodzonym potencjałem i możliwościami bardzo ważne jest uwzględnienie wychowania religijnego i moralnego z wykorzystaniem liturgii i jej inicjacyjnego wymiaru. Jest to możliwe dzięki wsparciu rodziny przez korzystanie z podstaw teoretycznych katolickiej pedagogii przedszkolnej, opartej na uniwersalnych wartościach i prawidłowościach rozwoju dziecka. The integral development and education of the person is at the heart of both theoretical reflection and pedagogical practice in Catholic education. Undertaken in all areas of the child’s development from an early age, it serves to form the foundation for the child’s entire life and personal perfection. At a time of dynamic socio-cultural changes and challenging events, increasing secularisation, it becomes necessary to improve the practice of early childhood education. In the harmonious promotion of the holistic development of the child and its orientation according to its innate potential and possibilities, it is very important to take into account religious and moral education using the liturgy and its initiatory dimension. This is possible by supporting the family through the use of theoretical foundations and a Catholic preschool pedagogy based on universal values and regularities of child development.
