- ItemAktualność myśli pedagogicznej Edmunda Bojanowskiego i jej aplikacja we wczesnej edukacji; analiza procesu w perspektywie międzynarodowej(Fundacja „Biografie Codzienności”, 2021-12-10) Opiela, Maria LoyolaEdmund Bojanowski rozwijał swą myśl pedagogiczną w połowie XIX wieku i dokonywał jej praktycznej aplikacji zachowując zasady wynikające z niezmiennej natury człowieka, praw jego rozwoju i wartości najwyższych, dostosowując metody, formy i środki wychowania do specyfiki społeczno-kulturowej danego środowiska. Jej ponadczasowy i uniwersalny wymiar stanowi podstawę do jej aplikacji w perspektywie międzynarodowej.

- ItemAnthony D. Smith’s Idea of the Nation. Controversy around Definitions(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2019-12-17) Wódka, MarekThis paper focuses on the category of the nation introduced by Anthony David Smith. The author attempts to answer the following questions: what does actually constitute nation, what is a origin of nation, and how does nation exist. The main point of this paper is an evolution of Smith’s definition of nation, which have been already debated. The analysis presented here aims to show that changes introduced by Smith to a definition of nation actually clarify this definition of nation, while the basic definition of nation remains a consistent and interesting concept for different theories of nation, in particular coming from political sciences. Additionally in this paper, the main concepts of this British scientist and the main research schools studying this subject were presented. This paper mainly focuses on analysis of changes introduced by Montserrat Guibernau, a sociologist from University of Cambridge, and it attempts to explain motivations which drove Smith to introduce changes to his definition. To date, none of scientists exploring the British scientist thoughts have attempted to show the usefulness of the definition of the nation for Christian social science, and so this paper includes recommendations, which could help to further explore research on the definition of nation among scientists interested in this research field. An ethnosymbolic concept of nation, defined by Smith, seems to correspond also to a concept of nation that is characteristic to Polish school of humanism. The author mentions about it, however leaves this problem as a subject of future research.
- ItemAntropologiczne uwarunkowania ars moriendi(Episteme, 2017) Jeziorański, MarekSztuka umierania (ars moriendi) wpisuje się w szeroko rozumiane wychowanie, tj. rozwój osobowy w różnych kontekstach i fazach ludzkiego życia. The art of dying (ars moriendi) fits into education in its broadest sense, i.e. personal development in various contexts and stages of human life. The very term ars moriendi may suggest focusing on the pragmatic approach to the last stage of human life, showing specific techniques how to live appropriately this period. In my article, I would like to present mostly anthropological conditioning of ars moriendi through some philosophical concepts. In the next part, I am going to show educational consequences of ars moriendi resulting from assumed anthropological premises.
In the modern Western world we come across threats to human life that have never appeared before in the history of mankind. Many of them are the result of the rapid development of biology and medicine in the twentieth and early twenty-first century that have not yet been supported by deeper bioethical reflection and an analysis of their long-term psychosocial, demographic and ecological consequences. These threats include: limiting the approach to the beginning of human life only to the biological aspect, undermining the genealogical criterion of human life, in vitro fertilization, experiments on the embryo (diagnostic, therapeutic and non-therapeutic experiments: surgical, pharmacological, genetic experiments), preimplantation genetic diagnosis and prenatal diagnosis (leading to eugenic abortion), the use of human embryos for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. The paper characterizes such threats as contraception and abortion, their bioethical context, with reference to the teaching of the Catholic Church, especially the John Paul II Evangelium Vitae encyclical. Two crucial reasons of the “civilization of death” identified by the Pope are: the postmodern vision of the human being and secularization. The paper also discusses the relation between contraception and abortion, and presents the threats resulting from eugenic intentions of using prenatal diagnostics and preimplantation diagnostics. Twenty years after publishing the encyclical we can see that the concerns of John Paul II were legitimate – the new possibilities of medicine may also lead to an expansion of the “culture of death”.
- ItemApplication of metacognitive strategies in the development of emotional and motivational self-regulation of students with special educational needs. Research on children with ADHD(Lubelskie Stowarzyszenie Naukowe na Rzecz Rozwoju Psychiatrii, Uniwersytet Medyczny w Lublinie, 2021) Kulik, Agnieszka; Kajka, NataliaThe aim of the presented study is to verify whether the visual methods (Mind Maps and Sketch-noting) considered as metacognitive strategies will help to strengthen emotional and motivational self-regulation in children with ADHD. In this experimental study, 135 participants took part, including 45 primary school students diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with the presentation of mixed symptoms (M = 10.41; SD = 1.42), their parents (N = 45) and teachers (N = 45). The results obtained in the study indicate that after 25 training sessions with the use of both Mind Maps and Sketch-noting, children with ADHD make significantly fewer errors than during the first measurement. However, only in the Sketch-noting group did their average reaction time increase significantly, which indicates that they are more reflective. The presented metacognitive strategies can be successfully applied at school by students with ADHD and constitute a source of support for both students and teachers.
- ItemAre they ready? Moderators of the correlation between work affect and job satisfaction felt by teachers of inclusive and special schools(Termedia Publishing, 2022-03-11) Otrębski, WojciechBackground: The study aimed to determine to what extent emotions experienced at work are predictors of the level of teachers’ job satisfaction. The moderating role of the type of school – inclusive and special – for this correlation was also analysed. Participants and procedure: The study involved 214 teachers at three levels of inclusive and special schools (primary, middle and high) attended by pupils with special educational needs. The respondents represented various age groups. The study used the Work Affect Scale and the Satisfaction with Job Scale. Results: The results clearly suggest that the emotions teachers experience at work are a strong predictor of their job satisfaction – positive emotions imply high job satisfaction whereas negative emotions imply low job satisfaction. This regularity exists in both the responding teacher groups. It was determined that the type of an institution does not significantly affect the above predictive attribute of organizational work affect. Conclusions: Positive work-related emotions and average and high job satisfaction felt by ca. 2/3 of the responding inclusive and special school teachers suggest that both these groups are fully ready for high-quality education for all.

- ItemAspekty konsumpcyjne w zachowaniach użytkowników ubieralnej technologii(Wydawnictwo Akademii Bialskiej Nauk Stosowanych im.
Takie podejście pozostaje inspirujące do dalszych przemyśleń i pomocne dla twórczego wykorzystania dorobku poprzednich pokoleń w doskonaleniu wczesnej edukacji we współczesnych warunkach.
- ItemAssessment of emotional control from the perspective of young adults with ADHD(Wydawnictwo Mazowieckiej Uczelni Publicznej w Płocku, 2021) Kulik, Agnieszka; Kajka, Natalia; Lemanowicz, Angelika; Mazur, Natalia; Ochnio, EmiliaObjective: Assessment of emotional control from the perspective of young adults with ADHD. Method: 86 young adults (M = 23.14; SD = 2.06) took part in the questionnaire study. The respondents completed two tools: the Courtauld Emotional Control Scale (CECS) and the structured ADHD diagnostic interview for adults (DIVA 2.0). Results: Despite the fact that adults with ADHD more often choose negative emotions as dominant in their lives or more often struggle with the inability to name the conditions they experience, no statistically significant differences were found between young adults with ADHD and without it disturbing in terms of suppressing the experienced emotional states. Conclusion: Adult ADHD adults' perceptions of regulating their emotional states may be distorted due to the greater number of difficult emotions they identify in their daily lives.
- ItemAttitudes of Different Age Groups Toward People With Intellectual Disability During the COVID-19 Pandemic(2021-07-12) Domagała-Zyśk, EwaBackground: The COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly risky for people with disabilities and severe medical conditions, not only because the virus may be a direct threat to their physical health but also because of social exclusion and negating their needs and rights. Objective: This study aimed to assess the attitudes of people from different age groups towards people with intellectual disability (ID). Methods: The study included 223 people (19–85 years old) and was conducted in May 2020–January 2021. Data was collected using the Multidimensional Attitudes Scale Towards Persons With Disabilities and a self-designed Questionnaire regarding the attitudes towards people with ID during the pandemic. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 24 (ANOVA). Results: The results of the study showed that the general attitudes were only slightly supportive and differed among people of different age groups: the youngest and the oldest generation expressed the most positive attitudes while the adults (35–60 y.o.) expressed the most negative ones. Conclusions: As the pandemic is spreading rapidly with no definitive solution, awareness to create more positive attitudes towards people with ID and recognizing their needs is essential.
- ItemAttitudes of Polish Young Adults towards the Roman Catholic Church: A Sociological and Pastoral Analysis of Empirical Research among Young Adults and Teachers(MDPI, 2022) Szymczak, Wioletta; Mąkosa, Paweł; Adamczyk, TomaszThe article provides a sociological and pastoral analysis of a representative empirical study conducted by means of an interview questionnaire among 1003 secondary school students in 2020 and 2021. The analysis was expanded to include data from parallel and similarly designed sociological studies carried out among teachers of religious education in order to obtain a broader view of the research problems and a better understanding of young adults by becoming familiar with the perceptions and opinions of teachers on the analyzed issues. The article reflects on and discusses the following issues: personal relationships between young adults and the Church along with their expectations towards the latter, factors considered to persuade young adults to develop their faith and be part of the Church, as well as Church activities and offers regarded by the surveyed subjects as particularly needed. These issues, presented from an interdisciplinary perspective, provide a deeper insight into people’s relations with the Church and allow for diagnosis of their needs and expectations. They also enable identification of the elements and aspects of the functioning of the religious institution, which, in a pluralistic society and the course of the ever-advancing secularization, requires a profound diagnosis, a thorough analysis and questions about the adequacy of forms and methods of evangelisation, as well as ways of reaching the target audience and the fulfillment of the fundamental religious mission.
- ItemAttitudes Toward Inclusion Among Polish Primary School Teachers: A Strategic Factor in Implementing Inclusive Education(Akademia Ignatianum w Krakowie, Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona, 2022) Domagała-Zyśk, Ewa; Knopik, TomaszThe purpose of the article is to determine the dominant attitude toward inclusive education among primary school teachers in Poland and to explain the predictors of this attitude. Research conducted on a group of 71 teachers using the “Attitudes Toward Inclusive Education” questionnaire showed a moderately positive attitude toward inclusive education among teachers, with statistically significant differences between teachers of grades 1 to 3 and 4 to 8. The much more positive attitude among the teachers of lower grades is supported by their richer experience of working with students with special educational needs and their broader competences and qualifications in inclusive education. These results give an important perspective that should be considered when implementing the idea of inclusion in the Polish education system (mainly when preparing teachers for the profession) so as to ensure continuity in supporting the development of all students at every stage of their education – not only in grades 1 to 3.
