dc.description.abstractPope Leo XII was not the founder of the Congregation of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, but it was he who decided on its survival. He regarded this dicastery as a useful, yet non-binding consultative body. At that time, the responsibilities of the Congregation were not clearly defined, and the Pope decided himself which problems it was entrusted with. He could, at his discretion, accept or reject the proposed resolutions. Despite the flexibility with which Leo XII treated the Congregation, it was convened regularly. In the period from July 1824 to February 1829, it held 25 sessions and analyzed 51 affairs concerning 13 European and 5 Latin American states. Slowly but steadily, the number of members and consultors increased. The careful selection of nominees shows the importance that Leo XII attributed to the Congregation and contributed to the increase of its prestige in later years.pl
dc.description.abstractLeon XII nie był twórcą Kongregacji Nadzwyczajnych Spraw Kościelnych, ale to on zadecydował o jej przetrwaniu. Uważał tę dykasterię za użyteczny, a jednocześnie niekrępujący organ konsultacyjny. Kongregacja nie miała w tym czasie przydzielonego zakresu spraw, papież decydował sam, które problemy jej powierzyć. Mógł, wedle swego uznania, przyjąć albo odrzucić proponowane rezolucje. Mimo elastyczności, z jaką Leon XII traktował Kongregację, była ona zwoływana regularnie. W okresie od lipca 1824 do lutego 1829 odbyła 25 sesji i przeanalizowała 51 spraw dotyczących 13 państw europejskich i 5 latynoamerykańskich. Powoli, ale systematycznie, rosła liczba członków i konsultorów. Staranny wybór nominatów świadczy o znaczeniu, jakie Leon XII przypisywał Kongregacji, przyczynił się też do wzrostu jej prestiżu w późniejszych latach.pl
