dc.description.abstractThe foundations of the European Union include free movement of persons, which is connected with the right of its every citizen to health care in the territory of another Member State. It follows from many regulations, including the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the established case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, which allow patients to freely choose a health care provider. The article analyses the migrating citizens’ right of access to health care in a host state of the European Union under the provisions of the so-called Cross-border Directive, the scope of that is right and its possible limitations. It also discusses practical problems of implementation of these provisions and their observance on the example of Poland.pl
