Abstract
W artykule podjęto próbę pokazania rozwoju bibliografii osobowych Mikołaja Kopernika. Badaniami objęto bibliografie sensu stricto, wydane w Polsce w latach 1873-2003. Zasadniczy materiał źródłowy stanowiło 29 zestawień, zgromadzonych na podstawie retrospektywnych i bieżących polskich bibliografii ogólnych i specjalnych oraz katalogów bibliotecznych. W trakcie przeprowadzonych analiz skoncentrowano się na omówieniu genezy i okoliczności powstania poszczególnych bibliografii. Zwrócono również uwagę na ich autorów, dobór i selekcję materiału oraz metodę opracowania, w tym zwłaszcza układ zrębu głównego, szeregowanie wewnętrzne oraz aparat informacyjno-pomocniczy. Podjęte badania dowiodły, że pierwsze bibliografie osobowe M. Kopernika zostały zainicjowane na gruncie polskim przez ks. Ignacego Polkowskiego w 1873 roku z pobudek patriotycznych. Dalszy ich rozwój, wyznaczony kolejnymi ważnymi rocznicami związanymi z życiem i działalnością naukową autora De revolutionibus orbium coelestium odbywał się w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym i w latach powojennych, osiągając apogeum na początku lat 70. XX wieku. Bezpośrednią przyczyną rozkwitu bibliografii w tym czasie była 500. rocznica urodzin astronoma, świętowana w 1973 roku. W późniejszym okresie nie zaniechano prac nad bibliografiami kopernikańskimi, ale ich rozwój nie był już tak intensywny.
The article attempts to show the development of personal bibliographies of Nicolaus Copernicus. The study covered bibliographies in a strict sense, published in Poland between 1873 and 2003. The essential source material consisted of 29 lists, gathered from retrospective and current Polish general and special bibliographies and library catalogues. The analysis was focused on discussing the origins and circumstances of each bibliography. Attention was also paid to their authors, the selection of material, and the method of compilation, including in particular the layout of the main body, internal serialization, and the information and support apparatus. The research undertaken proved that the first personal bibliographies of N. Copernicus were initiated on Polish soil by Rev. Ignacy Polkowski in 1873 for patriotic reasons. Their further development, marked by successive important anniversaries related to the life and scientific activity of the author of De revolutionibus orbium coelestium took place in the interwar and post-war years, reaching its apogee in the early 1970s. The immediate cause of the upsurge in bibliography at the time was the 500th anniversary of the astronomer’s birth, celebrated in 1973. Later, although work on Copernican bibliographies was not abandoned, their development was no longer as intensive.
