Abstract
The article is based on the inventory of Rev. Wojciech Strzemeski’s book collection. The inventory is kept in the records of the Chapter of Kielce, which are stored in the Diocesan Archive in Kielce. The knowledge gained from the inventory is supplemented with print items from Strzemeski’s historical book collection. These print items are kept in the book collection of the Chapter of Kielce, which is stored in the Library of the Higher Theological Seminary in Kielce. The book collection of the Chapter contains seven print items which belonged to Strzemeski. In addition, his three other items were discovered in the seminary book collection. The book collection of the Canon of Kielce included liturgical, theological, legal and historical literature. Strzemeski, who owned over 30 books, used his own superexlibris. One of his books has a binding made in a workshop whose services were used by King Stanisław August Poniatowski. At the time of Strzemeski the Chapter Library in Kielce had four times more books than he did. However, the books in the private collection of the Canon of Kielce were newer ones.
