dc.description.abstractImplantowane kardiowertery-defibrylatory serca (ICD) stały się ważnym elementem profilaktyki nagłej śmierci sercowej u chorych z grup najwyższego ryzyka. Wśród potencjalnych działań niepożądanych tej metody leczenia zwraca się uwagę na psychospołeczne konsekwencje wyładowań wewnątrzsercowych oraz ich wpływ na jakość życia pacjentów. W artykule przedstawiono najczęściej obserwowany problem psychologiczny po wszczepieniu ICD, jakim jest lęk przed wyładowaniami. Omówiono mechanizmy prowadzące do zmian zachowania chorych oraz przedstawiono możliwości redukowania negatywnych następstw psychologicznych wyładowań ICD. Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) have become an important element of sudden cardiac death prevention in the highest-risk patients. Among the potential side effects of this therapeutic approach attention is drawn to the psychosocial consequences of intracardiac discharge shocks and their effect on the patient’s quality of life. We discuss the most common psychological problem encountered after the implantation of an ICD: the fear of ICD discharge. We also discuss the mechanisms leading to behavioural changes in these patients and present the ways of reducing the negative psychological consequences of ICD discharge shocks.
