Abstract
Malarstwo niderlandzkie XV w. to nie tylko dzieła sztuki, to także nieocenione źródło informacji o średniowiecznych realiach. Obrazy o treści religijnej, rzadziej świeckiej, obok ukrytego języka symbolu dostarczają wielu cennych wiadomości nie tylko historykom sztuki, ale również przyrodnikom.
Pozwalają zapoznać się z ówczesną rzeczywistością, która uchwycona została przez artystów w sposób prawdziwy. Niniejszy artykuł obejmuje badania nad szeroko pojmowaną zielenią w miastach, odzwierciedloną na sześciu wybranych przykładach malarstwa niderlandzkiego XV w. Są to zarówno czytelne kompozycje ogrodowe, jak i różnego rodzaju tereny zieleni wpisane w strukturę urbanistyczną. Tekst stanowi próbę określenia ich układu kompozycyjnego oraz pełnionej funkcji w krajobrazie miejskim.
The fifteenth century Netherlandish painting is not only a work of art, is also an invaluable source of information about medieval realities. Paintings of religious and secular content, beside the hidden language of symbols, provide a variety of messages, not only for art historians but also to naturalists. They allow seeing the reality of that time, which is shown very real by artists. This article presents a study of medieval urban green areas reflected on the six selected examples of the 15th-century Netherlandish paintings. They are both gardens compositions and all kinds of green areas included in the urban structure. It is an attempt to determine their composition and functions in the urban landscapes.
