Abstract
Książka stanowi przystępny i naukowy wykład treści starotestamentowej Księgi Hioba. Monografia podzielona jest na trzy zasadnicze części: wprowadzenie historyczno-krytyczne, przekład opatrzony marginaliami i komentarzem oraz spis literatury. We wprowadzeniu autor omówił (1) nazwę księgi, jej miejsce w kanonie, czas powstania, treść, (2) formę literacką, (3) gatunki a główne linie interpretacyjne (mądrościowy, psalmiczny, sądowy), (4) przesłanie księgi w kontekście literatury i religii Bliskiego Wschodu, (5) charakteryzację przyjaciół Hioba, (6) interpretację jednego z najtrudniejszych fragmentów księgi, tj. 19,25-27 (Bóg przeciw Bogu), (7) kwestię mów Boga w kontekście odpowiedzi Hioba i problemu odpłaty, (8) strukturę księgi.
The book is an accessible and scholarly interpretation of the Book of Job. The monograph is divided into three main parts: a historical-critical introduction, a translation with parallel texts and commentary, and a bibliography. In the introduction, the author discusses (1) the name of the book, its place in the canon, the time of its composition, its content, (2) its literary form, (3) genres vs. main lines of interpretation (sapiential, psalmic, juridical), (4) the message of the book in the context of Ancient Near Eastern literature and religion, (5) the characterization of Job's friends, (6) the interpretation of one of the most difficult passages in the book, viz. 19:25-27 (God against God), (7) the question of God's speeches in the context of Job's response and the problem of retribution, (8) the structure of the book.
