Abstract
Monografia stanowi analizę ogólnopolskich badań socjologicznych przeprowadzonych w 2020 roku, wśród uczniów szkół średnich - liceów, techników i szkół branżowych, za pomocą internetowego kwestionariusza ankiety pt. „Ksiądz w świadomości polskiej młodzieży 2020 r.”. Kwestionariusz ankiety składał się z 25 pytań, z których część miała charakter otwarty.
Po krótkim wprowadzeniu teoretycznym na temat osób duchownych oraz przedstawieniu stanu badań socjologicznych dotyczących księży, autor charakteryzuje badaną zbiorowość, jej religijność i poglądy na wybrane tematy moralne oraz postawy wobec zinstytucjonalizowanej religii. Następnie oddaje głos młodzieży, aby poznać jej opinię na temat duszpasterzy - sposobu sprawowania przez nich swoich funkcji, wypełniania obowiązków, postawy wobec wiernych, cenionych i nietolerowanych zachowań oraz oczekiwań zarówno wobec duchownych (wzór i antywzór osobowy księdza), jak i form pracy duszpasterskiej. Prowadzone analizy empiryczne zawierają wprowadzenie teoretyczne, w skrótowy sposób przedstawiające główne procesy przemian religijnych. Rozważania socjologiczne nie abstrahują również od problemów trudnych dla instytucji Kościoła, będących przedmiotem dyskursu publicznego. Analiza socjologiczna wskazała, że młodzież oczekuje od księży postawy autentyzmu i skupienia na sferze sacrum. Ze względu na bardzo obszerny materiał empiryczny (1396 wypełnionych ankiet), dla odzwierciedlenia sposobu postrzegania badanych kwestii przez młodzież szkół średnich, w książce przywołane zostały liczne wypowiedzi respondentów zaczerpnięte z internetowego kwestionariusza.
The priesthood can be viewed from many scientific perspectives that reveal different elements, aspects, functions, and concepts. Each re- search perspective, along with the adopted methodology, brings a certain order of information that builds human knowledge. In this publication, the priesthood is presented from a sociological perspective. It is an analysis of the sociological research conducted in 2020. They were carried out using an online questionnaire entitled “Priest in the Awareness of Polish Youth 2020”. The questionnaire was built of 25 questions, both closed and open, not including the score sheet questions. The study consists of four chapters: I. “The Priesthood in Theoretical Terms”; II. “Religiousness of the surveyed people”; III. “A priest in the youth experience”; IV. “An Expected Priest Model ”. The whole sociological analysis ends with a synthesized “Ending” and a “Internet Survey Questionnaire”. The first theoretical chapter is an introduction to empirical analyzes. It covers two levels: theological and sociological. The first (theological) part covers issues such as: the official (sacramental) and universal (due to baptism) priesthood. The second chapter is empirical and concerns the religiosity and morality of the youth from secondary schools, their expectations of the Church, often distanced from institutionalized religion (the Church). The next two empirical chapters concern the attitudes of young people towards clergy. It presents analyzes of spontaneous associations with the word “priest”, as well as contacts with clergymen and trust in clergy (the pope, diocesan bishop, Polish Episcopate, pastor, vicar and catechist priests), the expected model of a priest, advantages and disadvantages of clergy, tasks of parish priests (in the opinion of young people), proposals for changes in pastoral work and the heroism of clergy during the pandemic. In this part of the book, the author gives a wide voice to young people who reveal their specific observations, experiences, justifications and explanations. The attitudes of young people towards priests are very diverse. When trying to summarize the sociological analysis of the obtained empirical data, two elements included in the title of the publication are emphasized: “spirituality” and “authenticity”. While spirituality is a sacred feature that should characterize clergy, the second feature is kind of a novelty in the expectations of clergy and concerns the human element. Youth expect priests to concentrate on the sacred sphere, be able to treat them seriously, express a caring listening and discrete accompaniment, without being overprotective, imposing their own position or assuming the position of a religious guru. Youth rejects various degrees of hypocrisy that contradict the attitude of authenticity. Sociological research shows the social reality of the Church, there are certain warning signs for the institutional Church and for pastors who want to stop the Polish youth’s emigration from the Church. It also contains – at least indirectly – important educational recommendations for the clergy, especially for catechists.

Wszyscy, którym zależy na tym, by proces emigracji młodzieży polskiej z Kościoła został zahamowany, powinni uważnie przeczytać tę książkę. Jest ona ważna z teoretycznego i empirycznego punktu widzenia, ale zawiera także – przynajmniej pośrednio – ważne rekomendacje wychowawcze dla duchowieństwa, a zwłaszcza dla katechetów. [Z recenzji ks. prof. dr. hab. Janusza Mariańskiego, KUL]. Za ciekawy zabieg metodologiczny należy uznać to, ze dużą część publikacji stanowią obszernie przytoczone wypowiedzi młodych ludzi na temat duchownych, natomiast własne komentarze Autor ogranicza do niezbędnego minimum. Można powiedzieć, że tym samym oddaje głos ludziom młodym, pozwalając, aby wypowiedzieli to, co myślą, własnym językiem, bez ograniczeń i niedomówień, z niekiedy brutalną szczerością. Niektóre z tych wypowiedzi mogą poruszać lub nawet oburzać, ale każda z nich skłania do refleksji. Jak słusznie zauważa Autor, młodzież określa w ten sposób wzór oraz „antywzór” kapłana.
