Europejski Fundusz na rzecz Demokracji jako instytucja in statu nascendi

Abstract
In the article, the author intends to present European Endowment for Democ¬racy (EED), the flagship project of the Polish Presidency. The idea of setting up the Fund was introduced in January 2011, by chief of diplomacy, minister Radosław Sikorski in response to events in Belarus and the nascent Arab Spring. The institution of EED would give the EU a more flexible way to engage with its neighborhood and the world. It could be a complementary instrument among the existing European instruments of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the world, especially among current instruments, especially the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights as far The idea behind the EED is to provide financial assistance to political parties, NGOs and individual pro-democracy activists in countries under authoritarian rule or in the process of democratic transition. The EED may be one of the great legacies of any European presidency, if executed well.
