L’écriture brisée de Dieu : fiction des ruines et palimpseste biblique dans Le Livre des malédictions d’Alain Nadaud

Abstract

Cet article propose une lecture hypertextuelle du roman de Nadaud, Le Livre des malédictions, envisagé comme un palimpseste biblique : une réécriture fragmentaire, spéculative et profane de l’épisode mosaïque, qui donne une seconde vie narrative aux éclats du texte sacré (les tables de la Loi brisées par Moïse) en les transformant en matière à la fois romanesque et philosophique. À travers le destin de David Tracher, paléographe obsédé par la quête des premières tables de la Loi, l’enquête narrative se déploie comme une fiction des ruines : fragments brisés, hypothèses extravagantes et textualité lacunaire dessinent une écriture qui se fait trace et vestige. Mobilisant la notion de palimpseste (Genette), Nadaud fait du texte lui-même un espace de superpositions, de réécritures et de brouillage, où se confondent mémoire et invention.

This article offers a hypertextual reading of Nadaud’s novel Le Livre des malédictions, conceived as a biblical palimpsest: a fragmentary, speculative, and secular rewriting of the Mosaic episode, which gives a second narrative life to the shards of the sacred text (the Tablets of the Law broken by Moses), transforming them into material that is both novelistic and philosophical. Through the fate of David Tracher, a paleographer obsessed with the quest for the first Tablets of the Law, the narrative investigation unfolds as a fiction of ruins: broken fragments, extravagant hypotheses, and fragmentary textuality outline a writing that becomes both trace and relic. Drawing on the notion of palimpsest (Genette), Nadaud turns the text itself into a space of superimpositions, rewritings, and obfuscations, where memory and invention merge.
