dc.description.abstractPrzemiany demograficzne, z którymi mamy współcześnie do czynienia, wywołują wiele procesów zarówno na poziomie lokalnym, jak i globalnym. Celem artykułu było przedstawienie problemów związanych z eksplozją demograficzną w kontekście zachodzących procesów globalizacji i lokalizacji. W pierwszej kolejności podjęte zostały kwestie związane z prognozowaniem zmian liczby ludności na świecie. Następnie zobrazowano rozkład populacji na poszczególne kontynenty i jego implikacje. W kolejnej części wskazano na wysoki stopień zarówno nasilenia, jak i skomplikowania ruchów migracyjnych, z którymi obecnie mamy do czynienia. Opisano zjawisko urbanizacji w skali lokalnej oraz globalnej, a także jego konsekwencje. Podkreślono również znaczenie lokalnych pandemii, które zakłócają procesy demograficzne. Ostatnim elementem poruszonym w artykule była kwestia wpływu populacji na środowisko naturalne i zagrożenia z tym związane. The demographic transition that we are facing nowadays causes many processes both on a local and global level. The aim of this paper is to present the problems of the demographic explosion in the context of the ongoing processes of globalisation and localisation. At the beginning of the article, issues related to forecasting changes in world population were raised. Next, the distribution of population across continents and its implications were illustrated. The next section points out the high degree of both intensity and complexity of migration movements we are currently dealing with. It describes the phenomenon of urbanisation on a local as well as global scale and its consequences. Also, the importance of local pandemics that disrupt demographic processes was highlighted. The final element in the article was the issue of the impact of population on the natural environment and the risks associated with it.
