Abstract
Artykuł podejmuje tematykę przyjaźni na podstawie Listów św. Hieronima ze Strydonu. W literaturze epistolograficznej tego Ojca Kościoła nie znajdujemy systematycznego nauczania na temat przyjaźni. Natomiast korespondencja Hieronima ukazuje portret człowieka, który utrzymywał żywe relacje z wieloma osobami i podejmował w swoich listach różnorodną tematykę. Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej przedstawiono zagadnienie wymiany i pisania listów, które są formą okazywania i pielęgnowania przyjaźni. Dzięki listom nieobecni stają się obecnymi, a korespondencja jest duchową rozmową. W drugiej części ukazano postacie, które Hieronim określa w swoich listach jako przyjaciół. Należeli do nich przede wszystkim osoby związane ze środowiskiem monastycznym (Rufin z Akwilei, Chromacjusz, Bonozus, Heliodor, Pammachiusz, Paulin, Ocean, Jowin, Euzebiusz). W trzeciej części przedstawiono dzieje przyjaźni Rufina z Akwilei z Hieronimem, którzy w młodości byli wielkimi przyjaciółmi, natomiast wskutek sporu o Orygenesa poróżnili się i stali się nieprzyjaciółmi. Dla Hieronima prawdziwa przyjaźń, to przyjaźń w Chrystusie, przyjaźń wypróbowana i wierna, to więź między ludźmi, która się nigdy nie urywa.
The aim of the article is to presenting friendship on the basis of Lettes of St. Jerome of Stridon. In epistolary literature of this Doctor of the Church, it is impossible to find systematical teaching about friendship. Nevertheless, St. Jerome’s correspondence presents him as a man who maintained relationships with many people and addressed different issues in his letters. The article is devided into three parts. The first one concentrates on the subject of exchanging and writing letters, which is a form of befriending people and cherishing the relations. Thanks to those letters the absent becomes present and the correspondence itself becomes a spiritual conversation. The second part presents people who are Jerome’s friends in his letters. Most of them are related to the monastic environment (Rufinus of Aquileia, Saint Chromatius, Bonozus, Heliodor, Pammachius, Paulinus, Ocean, Jovinus, Eusebius). The third part is devoted to the history of friendship of St. Jerome with Rufus of Aquileia. They were faithful friends in their youth, but due to the conflict regarding Origen, they finally became foes. Jerome finds true friendship in Christ, enduring and faithful, that never ceases to exist.
