    Praca zawodowa to obecnie ważna część życia jednostek i grup społecznych. Jest tym elementem życia, który w znacznej części określa ponowoczesnego człowieka. Ważną częścią pracy jest sukces zawodowy, do którego człowiek dąży. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest dyskusja nad rolą pracy i sukcesu w świadomości Polaków, diagnoza trudności, jakie stoją na drodze Polaków w osiągnięciu sukcesu zawodowego, a także wskazanie obszarów, które są zaniedbywane przez nich, aby ten sukces osiągnąć. Podstawą tych ustaleń jest przegląd literatury przedmiotu i wyników badań zastanych oraz analiza wyników badań empirycznych realizowanych wśród Polaków w 2022 roku, które dotyczyły m.in. społecznej definicji sukcesu zawodowego i jego uwarunkowań. Professional work is currently an important part of the lives of individuals and social groups. It is an element of life that constitutes the main part of the definition of the postmodern man. An important part of work is the career success that a person strives for. The aim of the article is to discuss the role of work and career success in the consciousness of Poles, to diagnose the difficulties that stand in the way of Poles in achieving career success and to indicate the areas that they neglect in order to achieve it. The basis of the author's findings is an analysis of the literature on the subject, the results of existing research and the results of the author’s own empirical research among Poles in 2022, which addressed, among other things, the social definition of career success and its determinants.
