    Pier Paolo Pasolini and Christianity. Some Facets of a Complex Relationship

    With his multifaceted artistic works and still remarkably relevant critical writings, Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975) continues to enjoy a high level of international attention almost fifty years after his death. This article profiles the central, yet mostly underestimated role of Christian faith in Pasolini’s life and work, despite his self-description as an atheist. Partly in an overview, partly in unfolded samples, selected biographical testimonies, literary works, and films by Pasolini are examined, in particular his two very important, but unrealized film projects “Saint Paul” and “Porno-Theo-Colossal,” his last script and intended capstone of his directorial works. In the process, the striking Christological vein becomes visible, which profoundly pervades not only Pasolini’s oeuvre, but also his life. Mit seinen vielgestaltigen künstlerischen Arbeiten und bemerkenswert aktuell gebliebenen kulturkritischen Schriften erfreut sich Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975) auch fast fünfzig Jahre nach seinem Tod ungebrochen hoher internationaler Aufmerksamkeit. Der vorliegende Beitrag profiliert die zentrale, gleichwohl zumeist unterschätzte Rolle des christlichen Glaubens für Pasolinis Leben und Werk, ungeachtet seiner Selbstbezeichnung als Atheist. Teils überblickshaft, teils in entfalteten Stichproben kommen dazu ausgewählte biographische Zeugnisse, literarische Arbeiten und Filme Pasolinis in den Blick, insbesondere seine beiden ihm sehr wichtigen, unrealisiert ge-bliebenen Filmprojekte „Der heilige Paulus“ und sein letztes Filmskript „Porno-Theo-Kolossal,“ der intendierte Schlussstein und die Summe seiner Regiearbeiten. Dabei wird die markante christologische Ader sichtbar, die nicht nur Pasolinis Oeuvre, sondern auch sein Leben tiefgreifend durchformt. Dzięki swoim różnorodnym dziełom artystycznym i niezwykle aktualnym pismom krytycznym pod względem kulturowym Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975) prawie pięćdziesiąt lat po swojej śmierci nadal cieszy się dużym zainteresowaniem międzynarodowym. Artykuł przedstawia centralną, choć przeważnie niedocenianą, rolę wiary chrześcijańskiej w życiu i twórczości Pasoliniego, niezależnie od tego, iż sam siebie określał jako ateistę. Badane są wybrane świadectwa biograficzne, dzieła literackie i filmy Pasoliniego, w szczególności jego dwa bardzo ważne dla niego, niezrealizowane projekty filmowe „Święty Paweł” oraz jego ostatni scenariusz filmowy „Porno-Theo-Kolossal” (zamierzone zwieńczenie jego dzieł reżyserskich). W wynikach badań ujawnia się uderzający wątek chrystologiczny, który głęboko kształtuje nie tylko twórczość Pasoliniego, ale także jego życie.
