    Nieznane wspomnienie o biskupie Adamie Prosperze Burzyńskim

    The published source is Rev. Jan Chryzostom Dąbrowski’s memoirs about the Bishop of Sandomierz Adam Prosper Burzyński (1755-1830). It is a hitherto unknown and newly discovered manuscript in the collection of the Library of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). It presents an interesting person, a missionary in Egypt in his youth and from 1820 onwards the bishop and organizer of the Diocese of Sandomierz. It includes both Burzynski’s memoirs about missions in the Middle East, which were told to his seminarians by him, as well as a description of the life of the seminarians in the 1820s. The author, Rev. Dabrowski, was also an interesting person. His clerical career was interrupted by the January Uprising, as he was exiled to stay in Siberia for supporting it; and after his return to the country in 1870, the tsarist authorities did not allow him to perform any function in the diocese.

    Zapomniane źródła o zdobyciu Zamościa w 1809 roku (wspomnienia O. Hermana Łabowskiego, zamojskiego bazylianina i kazanie dziękczynne ks. Onufrego Skotnickiego, infułata zamojskiego)

    Artykuł prezentuje dwa mało znane źródła, odnoszące się do dziejów Zamościa i wojny polsko-austriackiej. Głównym jest wspomnienie bazylianina, o. Hermana Łabowskiego, przełożonego klasztoru bazyliańskiego w Zamościu. Obejmuje ono zasadniczo niecałe trzy miesiące 1809 roku – od maja do lipca. W tym czasie miało miejsce jedyne w dziejach twierdzy zdobycie jej szturmem przez wojsko polskie, następnie konstytuowanie się władz tymczasowych Galicji Zachodniej i dwie uroczystości – dziękczynienie za zwycięstwo i zaprzysiężenie władz polskich. Do swoich wspomnień o. H. Łabowski włączył treść kazania infułata zamojskiego, ks. Onufrego Skotnickiego, wygłoszonego na uroczystościach dziękczynnych w dniu 28 maja 1809 roku. Treść tego kazania pozostawała nieznana, aczkolwiek istnieją przesłanki, że mogło być wydrukowane. Zatem edytowane źródło składa się właściwie z dwóch tekstów dwóch autorów. Niniejszą edycją zostają one przywrócone historiografii. The article presents two little-known sources relating to the history of Zamość and the Polish-Austrian war. The main one is the memoir of Basilian Father Herman Łabowski, superior of the Basilian monastery in Zamość. It essentially covers less than three months of 1809, from May to July. The only capture of the fortress in its history by the Polish army took place at that time, followed by the constitution of the provisional authorities of Western Galicia and two celebrations – thanksgiving for the victory and the oaths of the Polish authorities. In his memoirs, Fr H. Łabowski included the content of a sermon by the prelate of Zamość, Rev. Onufry Skotnicki, delivered at a thanksgiving celebration on 28 May 1809. That content remained unknown, although there are indications that it may have been printed. Consequently, the edited source actually consists of two texts by two authors. With this edition they are restored to historiography.
