    Person as constituted by dialogical relationality according to Joseph Ratzinger

    The thesis defended in this dissertation is the constitution of person from dialogical relationality which reflects Joseph Ratzinger's understanding of person as mediated though a constitutive orientation towards the other, thus entailing a relational transcendence beyond the singular individual (or self), whether in the case of the Absolute Divine Person or in the case of the human person. Methodologically, Ratzinger transits : from the consideration of the revelation of the mystery of God as Person into Christology and into anthropology" (J. Ratzinger, "Concerning the Notion of Person in Theology", "Communio" 17, 1990, p. 445). Accordingly this dissertation in the centrality of the Person of Jesus Christ the Last Adam, given that the man Jesus, who died on the cross is God. The first part of the dissertation presents Ratzinger's understanding of person as an event of dialogical relationality (chapter one), followed by a discourse on the Revelation of Person as Truth and guarantor of freedom (chapter two). The second part attempts a comparative synthesis of Ratzinger's approach and Thomistic personalism (in chapter three), on which basis the whole thrust of the dissertation was then brought to focus on more practical concerns about such anti-personalist trends as individualism and collectivism (in the final chapter). It is the conclusion of this dissertation that in the light of Ratzinger's notion of person as constituted by dialogical relationality, the anti-personalist tendencies which give rise to anthropological errors in our contemporary society can be corrected.

    The basis of human transcendence according to Mieczysław Albert Krąpiec

    Główną tezą podejmowaną w tej rozprawie doktorskiej jest to, że ostateczna podstawa ludzkiej transcendencji jest zakorzeniona w metafizycznych zasadach bytu i działań człowieka jako osoby. Próba uzasadnienia tego twierdzenia pociągnęła za sobą kluczowe pytania dotyczące doświadczalnej, a także uzasadnione wyjaśnienia transcendencji człowieka w stosunku do przyrody i społeczeństwa. W poszukiwaniu satysfakcjonujących odpowiedzi badacz zastosował metodę analizy w celu ustalenia przedmiotu badania, a mianowicie ludzkiej transcendencji - w tekstach filozoficznych Krąpca. Stąd ustalona metoda wyjaśnienia metafizycznego, która szuka ostatecznych zasad, została wykorzystana do wyjaśnienia podstawy ludzkiej transcendencji w celu przedstawienia wybranych wymiarów ludzkiej transcendencji w stosunku do natury i społeczeństwa. Cała rozprawa składa się z dwóch części, a mianowicie: prezentacji i wyjaśnienia odkrytych faktów ludzkiej transcendencji (w pierwszym i drugim rozdziale); następnie demonstracja domen ludzkiej transcendencji i wreszcie pewne oznaki konsekwencji przyjęcia lub odrzucenia argumentów Krąpca o transcendencji ludzkiej (rozdział trzeci i czwarty). Wśród kluczowych wniosków wyciągniętych przez badacza wyróżnia się dowód, że człowiek wykracza poza naturę i społeczeństwo, ponieważ z jednej strony nie zawdzięcza swojej egzystencji (istnieniu) ani naturze, ani społeczeństwu. Z drugiej strony, w swoich skutecznych działaniach poznawczych i wolicjonalnych, człowiek wykracza także poza naturę i społeczeństwo w swoich osobistych poszukiwaniach prawdy, dobra i piękna.
