    Początkiem szczególnego kultu kopii obrazu Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej w katedrze lubelskiej były wydarzenia z 3 lipca 1949 r. nazwane cudem lubelskim. Tego dnia na obrazie Matki Bożej zauważono łzy. Nieprzypadkowo więc książka ukazuje się w 2019 r. Siedemdziesiąta rocznica cudu lubelskiego jest bardzo dobrą okazją, aby przyjrzeć się tym wydarzeniom od nowa. Zagadnienie cudu lubelskiego rozpatrywane jest w dwóch aspektach - historycznym i religijnym. Zgodnie z tym książka została podzielona na dwie części, a każdą z nich poświęcono przedstawieniu innego aspektu. Temat został omówiony z perspektywy historycznej - jako wydarzenie wpisujące się w kontekst dziejów regionu i całego kraju. Obejmuje takie zagadnienia, jak: blokada miasta przez wojsko i milicję, akcja propagandowa w mediach, akcja masówek, wiec antycudowy, aresztowania i represje wobec więźniów. Nieodłączny od lipcowych wypadków jest oczywiście aspekt religijny, ukazany za pomocą świadectw, w których świadkowie opisali swoje przeżycia duchowe. W tej części omówiono też kwestię koronacji obrazu jako naturalną konsekwencję kultu religijnego. Zakończenie książki stanowi rozdział, w którym ukazano znaczenie cudu lubelskiego w przestrzeni społecznej aż do współczesności. The beginning of a particular worship of the copy of the painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa in the Lublin Cathedral were the events of 3 July 1949 called the Lublin Miracle. That day tears were noticed on the painting of Our Lady. Not coincidentally the book is appearing in 2019. The seventieth anniversary of the Lublin Miracle is a very good occasion to take a fresh look at these events. The issue of the Lublin Miracle is being examined in two aspects - historical and religious one. In line with this idea the book has been divided into two parts, each one devoted to a different aspect. The topic has been discussed from the historical perspective - as an event tied to the context of the history of the region and the entire country. It covers such issues as: blockade of the city by the army and militia, propaganda campaign in the media, demonstrations, mass actions, anti-miracle assembly, arrests and repressions against inmates. The religious aspect, portrayed through testimonials where the witnesses describe their spiritual experiences, is inseparable from the July’s events. The issue of crowning of the painting as a natural consequence of the religious cult is presented in this part. The book is closed with a chapter portraying the meaning of the Lublin Miracle in the social space until contemporary times.
