- ItemThe Lublin Philosophical School: History - Conceptions - Disputes(Wydawnictwo KUL, 2020) Lekka-Kowalik, Agnieszka; Gondek, PawełThe monograph presents the Lublin Philosophical School, known also as the Lublin School of Classical Philosophy, which originated at the Catholic University of Lublin as an educational program and a style of practicing philosophy. The title of the introduction grasps the main message of the school: fidelity to the truth - fidelity to reality. The authors - K. Stępień, W. Dłubacz, P. Gondek, A. Maryniarczyk, A. Gudaniec, T. Duma, B. Czernecka-Rej, A. Lekka-Kowalik, S. Majdański - discuss the processes of building foundations of the school and the determinants of "classicality" that shape its specificity. The subtitle of the monograph determines the arrangement of the texts. Historical articles show the socio-intellectual and organizational context of the school's creation and its place in the philosophical tradition. Systematic articles analyze the key conceptions of realistic metaphysical philosophy, including understanding the human as a person. Meta-subject articles concern the philosophical inspirations of the school, the specificity of the language and methods of metaphysics, non-classical logics developed by the school's members, and disputes carried on within the school. S. Majdański's text is a testimony and reflection on the conditions of the school's functioning and a sketch of the personalities of its main masters. The monograph also contains two articles by the schoo's founding fathers: Fr. Professor Mieczysław A. Krąpiec, OP and Rev. Professor Stanisław Kamiński. The collected articles show the topicality of this way of philosophizing which is programmatically open to new experiences. The book ends with a subject and personal index, an extensive bibliography, and a set of photographs.
