UwBCelem pracy jest ukazanie istoty sakramentu spowiedzi, jego znaczenia i szczególnego miejsca w nauczaniu i życiu Kościoła prawosławnego. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów, które są ze sobą wzajemnie powiązane, tworząc główny wątek pracy. W pierwszym rozdziale znalazła się wnikliwa historyczno-liturgiczna charakterystyka poszczególnych etapów rozwoju sakramentu spowiedzi. Oparta została na dostępnych źródłach historycznych jak też współczesnej literaturze i opracowaniach dotyczących badanego tematu. Aby wszechstronnie omówić długą i złożoną drogę formowania się praktyki pokutnej, wyjaśnić wszelkie historyczne zawiłości tego procesu sięgnięto do różnorodnych treści: apologetycznych, katechetycznych, liturgicznych, kanonicznych, pastoralnych. Poczynając od nowotestamentowych świadectw ustanowienia sakramentu, omówione zostały następnie kolejne etapy kształtowania się misterium pokajania: apostolska praktyka spowiedzi publicznej, rozwój praktyki powrotu upadłych, instytucja spowiednika, zanik spowiedzi publicznej, rozwój dyscypliny pokutnej, kształtowanie się spowiedzi indywidualnej, swobodnej spowiedzi przed mnichami i praktyki ojcostwa duchowego. W tym rozdziale dysertacji znalazło się też omówienie rozwoju rytu spowiedzi na słowiańszczyźnie, począwszy od najstarszych źródeł słowiańskiej praktyki, po reformy i modyfikacje czasów metropolity Piotra Mohyły oraz regulacje spowiedzi okresu synodalnego. Rozdział podsumowuje oparta na Euchologionach prezentacja współczesnej liturgicznej formy sakramentu. W kolejnych paragrafach drugiego i trzeciego rozdziału przedstawiono porównanie prawosławnej nauki o sakramencie i treści modlitw oraz formuł modlitewnych. W drugiej części pracy omówiona została teologia sakramentu. Zarówno znaczenie spowiedzi w kontekście sakramentologii, jak i też jej relacja z innymi sakramentami Kościoła. Następnie mowa jest o pokajaniu się z perspektywy istoty grzechu i drogi powrotu człowieka do Boga. Kolejne wątki tego rozdziału pracy dotyczą diagnozy zagrożeń duchowych, opartej na analizie modlitw rytu spowiedzi, roli kapłana w sprawowaniu misterium, relacji człowieka i Boga, formuł rozgrzeszenia i przemiany człowieka. Rozdział trzeci skupia się na omówieniu współczesnej praktyki sakramentu w różnych Kościołach prawosławnych. Zasadniczą oś tej części pracy stanowi porównanie dwóch głównych nurtów liturgicznej praktyki sprawowania sakramentu: greckiego i słowiańskiego. Tym niemniej przeprowadzona analiza uwzględnia praktykę innych lokalnych Kościołów prawosławnych. W tej części pracy przedstawione zostały dodatkowo nowe zagadnienia i kwestie współcześnie podejmowane w aspekcie tegoż sakramentu, które wydają się istotne dla życia i misji Kościoła prawosławnego.The aim of the work was to show the essence of the mystery of confession, its meaning and special place in the teaching and life of the Orthodox Church. The work consists of three chapters that are interrelated to from the main plot of the work. The first chapter contains an insightful historical and liturgical description of the various stages of development of the mystery of confession. It has been based on available historical sources as well as contemporary literature and studies on the topic under study. In order to comprehensively discuss the long and complex path of formation of penitential practice, to explain all the historical intricacies of this process, various contents have been used: apologetic, catechetical, liturgical, canonical, and pastoral. Beginning with the New Testament testimonies of the institution of the sacrament, subsequent stages of the formation of the mystery of repentance have been discussed: apostolic practice of public confession, development of the practice of returning the lapsed, institution of a confessor, disappearance of public confession, development of penitential discipline, formation of individual confession, free confession before monks and the practice of spiritual fatherhood. This chapter of the dissertation also contains a discussion of the development of the rite of confession in the Slavic countries, ranging from the oldest sources of Slavic practice, to the reforms and modifications in the times of Metropolitan peter Mohyla as well as the regulations of confession in the synodal period. The chapter is summed up by a presentation of contemporary liturgical from based on Euchologions. The following paragraphs of the second chapter compare the Orthodox teaching on the sacrament and the content of prayers and prayer formulas. The theology of mystery is discussed in the second part of the work - both the meaning of confession in the context of sacramentology as well as its relationship with other mysteries of the Church. Then there is repentance discussed from the perspective of the essence of sin and the way of man's return to God. The next threads of this chapter concern diagnosis of spiritual threats based on the analysis of the prayers of the confession rite, the role of the priest in the celebration of the mystery, the relationship between man and God, the formulas of absolution and the process of human transformation. The third chapter focuses on the contemporary practice of the sacrament in various local Orthodox Churches. The main axis of this part is the comparison of two main currents of liturgical practice of administering the sacrament: Greek and Slavic. Nevertheless, the analysis carried out also takes into account the practice of other local Orthodox Churches.
