Sonnets from Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft's Emblemata Amatoria and their European Poetic Lineage, Lublin 2009978-83-7363-955-3https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12153/5859The subject of this study is the relationship of the lyric oeuvre of Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft (1581-1647), exemplified by the sonnets from his first published volume Emblemata Amatoria (1611), to the traditions of European renaissance lyric poetry, especially Petrarchism and mannerism, in particular on the level of literary topoi and the attitude to the sonnet form. Hooft’s sonnets achieve their poetic and pragmatic aim primarily by listening to the voices of representatives of authoritative poetic traditions, and reshaping them in a unique, subtle way. Taking Hooft’s volume into our hands, not only do we see that the maker of the emblems had ‘a skilled hand’ (‘gheleerder handt’) – we are also led to recognize that the one who wrote the poems consulted the most learned sources. Tematem monografii są związki pomiędzy twórczością liryczną Pietera Corneliszoona Hoofta (1584-1647), na przykładzie cyklu sonetów z jego najwcześniejszego zbioru Emblemata Amatoria (1611), a tradycją europejskiej liryki renesansowej, w szczególności petrarkizmu i manieryzmu w zakresie topiki miłosnej i zastosowania sonetu jako formy literackiej. Stworzone przez Hoofta dzieło pośredniczy między literaturami europejskimi, łącząc głosy autorytatywnych tradycji poetyckich, ale też w subtelny sposób je przekształcając.
