Abstract
Zagadnienia dotyczące wyposażenia wnętrz domów mieszczańskich w Polsce w XV i 1 poł. XVI wieku od wielu lat znajdują się w centrum zainteresowania historyków sztuki i kultury materialnej. Niemniej meble gotyckie z tego okresu nie doczekały się całościowego opracowania. Celem rozprawy jest wypełnienie tej luki w historii polskiego rzemiosła artystycznego. Rozprawa składa się z dwóch tomów. Pierwszy obejmuje: wstęp, siedem rozdziałów, zakończenie, trzy aneksy, summary, bibliografię i wykaz skrótów. Drugi to katalog mebli, ilustracje, ich spis i źródła. W I rozdziale przedstawiono stan badań gotyckich mebli świeckich na Śląsku, w Małopolsce, na Pomorzu, Warmii i Mazowszu. Z uwagi na brak gotyckich mebli świeckich w Wielkopolsce region ten w stanie badań nie został uwzględniony. Rozdział II poświęcono historii cechów zajmujących się wyrobem mebli w krajach zachodniej Europy oraz w Polsce. Omówiono w nim także materiał oraz konstrukcję gotyckich mebli skrzyniowych i szkieletowych oraz ich techniki zdobnicze. W rozdziale III przedstawiono typy mebli gotyckich zachowanych w Polsce i przykłady mebli gotyckich krajów zachodniej Europy. Rozdział IV poświęcono motywom zdobniczym mebli gotyckich, a V ich okuciom. W rozdziale VI omówiono meble, któtre należały lub przypuszczalnie mogły należeć do wyposażenia wnętrz domów mieszczańskich w Polsce. Rozdział podzielono na pięć podrozdziałów, które odnoszą się do mebli poszczegółnych regionów Polski. Importowane meble gotyckie w zbiorach polskich zawiera rozdział VII.
The issues related to the interior design of Polish burghers' houses in the 15th century and up to the first half of the 16th century have been a focus of interest for art and material culture historians for many years. however, no comprehensive research study on the Gothic furniture of that period has appeared. The aim of PhD thesis is to bridge this gap in the history of the Polish artistic craftsmanship. The thesis consists tow volumes. The first one comprises seven chapters, including an introduction, conclusion, three annexes, summary, bibliography and a list of abbreviations. The second one contains a catalogue of furniture, illustrations, a list and sources of illustrations. The first chapter gives an overview of the research on the Gothic domestic furniture in Silesia, Little Poland (Malopolska), Pomerania, Warmia and Mazovia. Since Gothic domestic furniture can be found in Great Poland (Wielkopolska) this region has not been taken into consideration in the research findings. The second chapter is devoted to the history of guilds specializing in furniture making in Western European countries and in the territory of Poland. The chapter examines materials and design of the Gothic case and skeletal furniture and their decorative techniques. Chapter 3 describes the Gothic furniture types preserved in Poland and some examples of the Western European Gothic furniture. Chapter 4 deals with ornamentation motifs of the Gothic furniture and Chapter 5 is devoted to furniture hardware. Chapter 6 examines the furniture which was incorporated or was likely to be incorporated into the interior design of Polish burghers' hosuses. The chapter is divided into five sections dealing with furniture types from particular regions of Poland. Chapter 7 discusses imported Gothic furniture found in the Polish collections.
