Abstract
Ojciec Aidan Kavanagh wniósł znaczący wkład w rozumienie teologii liturgicznej w USA. Praca zawiera rys biograficzny, działalność naukowo-dydaktyczną oraz charakterystykę głównych kierunków jego badań nad liturgią. W pracy zostały również zdefiniowane pojęcia: Kościół, liturgia, sakrament i rytuał, jako przygotowanie do ukazania wzajemnych relacji, zachodzących pomiędzy tymi pojęciami w teologii Kavanagha. Poprzez wyjaśnienie czym jest „teologia liturgiczna”, ukazane zostały; relacja theologia prima do theologia secunda, postać Mrs. Murphy oraz interpretacja podejścia Kavanagha do łacińskiej formuły lex orandi-lex credendi. W dalszej części pracy przedstawiona została jedność sakramentów inicjacji chrześcijańskiej, odnowa teologii i liturgii inicjacji chrześcijańskiej w dokumentach Soboru Watykańskiego II oraz w księdze Ordo Initiationis Christianae Adultorum, którą Kavanagh uznał za paradygmat chrześcijańskiego wtajemniczenia. Dla o. Kavanagha nie tylko refleksja teologiczna, lecz także życie chrześcijańskie jest zorientowane na liturgię i z niej wypływa. Dzięki liturgii życie chrześcijańskie koncentruje się na Chrystusie i jest życiem napełnionym Duchem. Liturgia uświadamia też, że Chrystus, który w najdoskonalszy sposób uwielbił Ojca, mocą Ducha Świętego uzdalnia uczestników celebracji liturgicznej do złożenia swego życia w ofierze Bogu wraz z Chrystusem i na Jego wzór. Liturgia pozwala też na odkrycie Kościoła, którego najpełniejszym wyrazem na ziemi jest Eucharystia.
Father Aidan Kavanagh made a significant contribution to understanding liturgical theology in the United States. The work contains a biographical outline, scientific and didactic activity, as well as a description of the main directions of his research on the liturgy. The work also defines the concepts of the Church, liturgy, sacrament, and ritual as a preparation for showing the mutual relationships that occur between these concepts in Kavanagh’s theology. By explaining what "liturgical theology" is, they are shown; relation of theologia prima to theologia secunda, “Mrs. Murphy” and Kavanagh’s interpretation of the Latin formula Lex orandi-Lex credendi. The rest of the work presents the unity of the sacraments of Christian initiation, the renewal of theology and liturgy of Christian initiation in the documents of the Second Vatican Council, and in the book of Ordo Initiationis Christianae Adultorum, which Kavanagh recognized as the paradigm of Christian initiation. For Father Kavanagh, not only theological reflection, but also Christian life is oriented towards the liturgy and flows from it. Thanks to the liturgy, Christian life is centered on Christ and is a life filled with the Spirit. The liturgy also makes us aware that Christ, who glorified the Father in the most perfect way, enables the participants of the liturgical celebration to sacrifice his life to God, along with Christ and with his example, by the power of the Holy Spirit. The liturgy also makes it possible to discover the Church, whose fullest expression on earth is the Eucharist.
