    Dokumenty rosyjskie z początku XX wieku na temat Jasnej Góry

    Город Ченстохов находился до I мировой войны в пределах Российской Империи. Этообусловило специфическую историю Ясной Горы. Автор, принимая во внимание состояние прежних исследований, предпринял попытку изучения российских архивных документов начала XX в., касающихся Ясногорского монастыря. Они сохранились в Российском государственном историческом архиве в Санкт-Петербурге и в Государственном архиве в г. Лодзь. Первые находятся в фонде Департамента духовных дел иностранных исповеданий Министерства внутренних дел, который контролировал неправославные вероисповедания, вторые — в фондах канцелярии и правительства Петроковского губернатора. Другие российские и польские архивы содержат лишь немногие документы, связанные с Ясной Горой. Документы подтверждают, что почти все решения, даже по незначительным вопросам, касающиеся монастыря, принимались российскими центральными властями в Санкт-Петербурге. Потом «спускались» по ступеням бюрократической лестницы, из Министерства внутренних дел, через Департамент духовых дел, в канцелярии Варшавского генерал-губернатора, Петроковского губернатора, начальника Ченстоховского уезда. Сходным был путь полицейских распоряжений. Большая часть проанализированных бумаг — входящая переписка и копии исходящих документов. Их ценность различна. Среди них есть как оригиналы, так и черновики высланных писем. Документы говорят об особом внимании российских властей к католической монашеской жизни, о стремлении к ее ограничению, а на самом деле к ликвидации. Сохранение паулинского монастыря в Ченстохове, несмотря на внешние репрессии и внутренние проблемы, свидетельствует об том, что он находился под особой Божьей защитой. Ясна Гора оставалась для лишенного независимости польского народа символом свободы и укрепляла веру и единство поляков. В то же время толпы паломников со всего разделенного границами края становились самой лучшей защитой монастыря от его ликвидации.

    Duchowni wyświęceni przez biskupa chełmskiego Jerzego Zamoyskiego w latach 1601-1620

    The Diocese of Chełm of the Latin Rite is one of the least recognized ecclesiastical communities in early modern Poland. Its social, spiritual and pastoral characteristics remain almost completely unknown. That is why an analysis of the ordination lists is particularly important. It is a method to learn the significance of the personal factor in the life of the diocese. The ordination lists can be easily found in the Bishop Act Books. This article examines two act books created during Bishop Jerzy Zamoyski’s rule. Zamoyski ordained 490 people, that is 227 diocesan clergymen and 263 monks. The list of them has been arranged in alphabetical order here. It gives information about date, place and the level of the holy orders received as well as the designated prebendary post or office. The whole list has been divided into smaller groups to stress the particularity of different relations between some clergymen and the Diocese of Chełm.

    Działalność Ośrodka Badań nad Geografią Historyczną Kościoła w Polsce KUL

    In 2010 the University Senate decided to include the Institute for the Historical Geography of the Church in Poland, established in 1957 by prof. Jerzy Kłoczowski, in the structures of the Faculty of Humanities and changed its name into the Research Centre for the Historical Geography of the Church in Poland. Thanks to this decision, the Lublin centre, which has a few dozen years of tradition dating back to the most difficult times of the Polish People’s Republic, has the opportunity to continue the research on the history of Churches and religions in Poland. The article presents the outline of the Centre (Institute) activity, its achievements and the main research goals. The presentation of the Centre activity from a chronological perspective is an attempt to show the intricacy of the research issue and the development of the research into the historical lands of Poland from religious, social and demographical point of view. Presenting the most important achievements of workers and coworkers enabled to show the scope of research concerning territorial structures of major and minor Churches, male and female congregations, especially the activity of female congregations during the Second World War and in the Polish People’s Republic, social and demographic issues, and others. Showing the history and achievements of the Centre also serves as a reminder of the role it played and still plays in the research on the history of churches, religions, faiths in the former Republic of Poland and the East-Central Europe. The synthetic presentation of the problems connected with the historical geography and cartography of the Church is also an attempt to assess the possibilities of further development of the research on geography, and social and religious history in Poland.

    Dzieje biblioteki Arystotelesa

    Reading in Hellas developed quite slowly in the first period of the book development. However, more and more people read and possessed books. History reveals that ancient Greeks possessed small book collections. One of them was Aristotle of Stagira who is considered to be the first real book collector. His library held 143 works in 400 books. Before his death, he bequeathed his whole book collection to Teofrast of Eresos. In the course of time the library “changed hands”. It even became the part of Sulla’s war loot and hence it was in Rome. The library in Alexandria also possessed a substantial part of Aristotle’s books. After the collapse of Greece, Aristotle’s writings were kept in Syria. In the 4th century in Mesopotamia and then Aristotle’s writings along with other Greek philosophers were read in Arabia. The expansion of his philosophy to the West was possible due to the expansion of the Mahomet’s followers to the Pyrenees Peninsula. Thanks to the Arab philosophers, Latin Europe became acquainted with Aristotle’s philosophical legacy. At the end of the 19th century Aristotle was the talk of the world of science due to the new archeological discoveries. Dry sands of the Egyptian desert preserved papyruses with the fragments of different ancient texts. And thus Aristotle’s “The Constitution of the Athenians” was discovered, the text whose title had been only known before this archeological find.

    Dzieje parafii w Odrowążu Podhalańskim w świetle kroniki parafialnej (1844)

    The reader is presented with an article based on the chronicle of the parish in Odrowąż, which originated in 1819 and describes its history till the end of the 19th century. The author of the text was Jan Kanty Miś - the first official rector of this parish. He shortly described its history as well as that of the church. He also listed the furnishings of the temple and characterized its mural paintings. The text, written in Latin, also contains biographies of the first two rectors of the parish. At the turn of the nineteenth century many churches affiliated to existing parishes in the southern part of Poland became independent. The first community to have undergone this process was that of Chochołów and later on similar efforts were made by inhabitants of Pieniążkowice. In 1818 the construction of the church started. According to regulations, each new parish should consist of at least one thousand worshippers. At the same time villagers from Odrowąż, which was only 1.5 km away from Pianiążkowice, also commenced the construction of their own temple. In 1819 the decision was made by the authorities to found the new parish in Odrowąż with the villages of Dział, Pieniążkowice and Załuczne becoming its part. In the next years the two constructions were carried on simulataneously, namely the legal one in Odrowąż and the illegal one in Pieniążkowice. The argument between the two communities continued despite intervention of state authorities, the owners of the villages as well as the rector.

    Katecheci parafii w Sokołowie Małopolskim na początku XX wieku (1900-1920)

    In the two first decades of the 20th century, 5 regular catechists worked in the St John Baptism Parish of Sokołów Małopolski: the Rev. Wojciech Karaś (1900-1902), the Rev. Józef Szpila (1903--1904), the Rev. Leopold Augustyn (1904-1907), the Rev. Michał Klajewicz (1909-1911) and the Rev. Stanisław Woźny (1912-1920). Those priests mainly taught religion in the five-grade coeducational school in Sokołów Małopolski, the school which was divided into a female and male one in 1913. Apart from this, they helped parish priests with pastoral work. At that time the parish priests were the Rev. Franciszek Stankiewicz (1898-1916), the Rev. Wojciech Blajer (1916) and the Rev. Leon Szado (1916-1934). The article presents biographical entries of the above-mentioned catechists. Two of them, the Rev. Michał Klajewicz and the Rev. Stanisław Woźny died in this parish and were buried in the cemetery of Sokołów. The Rev Leopold Augustyn and the Rev. Stanisław Woźny are especially remembered due to their work for this parish. Apart from pastoral work, they were also active on the social plane. The former one was the cofounder of the the Stefczyk Fund in Sokołów and the latter one worked with the local young people. Another significant catechist, who became renowned for his preacher’s talent, was the Rev. Wojciech Karaś.

    Kronikarskie zapiski do dziejów parafi i Wolsztyn

    Im Archiv der Pfarrei Wolsztyn (Wollstein) befindet sich eine zusammengeheftete Sammlung von Dokumenten mit der Signatur Zg. 53/41 Nr. 227, welche Kirchliche Dokumente betreffende Akten (1755-1820) enthält. Darunter befindet sich auch ein kaum 7 Seiten zählendes Manuskript mit dem Titel Modus in ordinem redigendi documenta et alia scripta Ecclesiae. Dieses Manuskript wurde nach 1806 eigenhändig vom Präpositen der Kirche zu Wolsztyn, dem Chorherren Franciszek Bębnowski, verfertigt. Auf den ersten beiden Seiten befindet sich ein – wahrscheinlich von den kirchlichen Behörden erlassenes – Schema, wie das Verzeichnis der im Besitz der Pfarrei befindlichen Dokumente angefertigt werden soll. Die nächsten Seiten enthalten dann die Realisierung dieser Anweisungen bezüglich des Archivums von Wolsztyn. Aus diesem Verzeichnis wissen wir von der Existenz vieler nicht bis in unsere Zeit erhaltener Dokumente. Diesbezüglich besonders wertvoll ist die Information, dass dem Pfarrer noch ein nicht mehr existierendes Matrikelbuch (liber baptisatorum) zur Verfügung stand, in dem alle getauften Personen der Jahre 1630-1699 verzeichnet waren. Dieses und spätere Bücher nutzte der Autor des Manuskripts zur Feststellung der Vor- und Nachnamen der in der Pfarrei arbeitenden Priester; außerdem notierte er bemerkenswerte Geschehnisse aus dem Leben der Pfarrgemeinde, dem Sittenleben (z. B. Informationen über die Verbrennung der Zauberei verdächtigter Frauen) oder dem wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Leben in den Jahren 1630-1784. Auf diese Weise schuf Franciszek Bębnowski nicht nur ein Verzeichnis der Pfarrarchivalien, sondern ein kleines Werk in Form einer Pfarrchronik des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts.

    Księgozbiór panien norbertanek w Imbramowicach

    The article presents the convent book collection of the Norbertine Sisters in Ibramowice. Its beginnings date back to the fi rst half of the 18th century. The convent was rebuilt after the fi re in 1710. Then its greatest benefactor, the Rev. Dominik Lochman, made an effort to found a library to which he himself gave a lot of books. The library established by the Rev. Lochman grew bigger thro-ughout the following years. The books mainly came from donors, but some of them were brought by sisters who entered the convent, including those nuns who were resettled from dissolved convents, for example from Busko.The present–day book collection is divided into fi ve categories: manuscripts, antique books, nineteenth-century books, modern books and magazines. The size of the book collection is not exactly known. So far it has been possible to confi rm the existence of about 30 music manuscripts, which were written from the 18th to the 19th century, over 800 antique books and over 300 titles of magazines. The most valuable books are the thirteenth-century antiphonaries of Płock, the fi fteenth-century gradual and a few extremely rare antique books.

    Mołdawia w relacjach nuncjuszów apostolskich w Polsce w latach 1648-1653

    La Moldavie, un allié potentiel de la Pologne contre les Turcs, intéressait les nonces apostoliques en Pologne. Quand l`insurrection des Cosaques en Ukraine a éclaté en 1648, la Moldavie est devenue importante pour les nonces comme la source des informations des événements en Porte Ottomane et de la politique des Cosaques et Tatars. Les nonces observaient le prince de la Moldavie, Basile Lupul, quand il louvoyait entre les Polonais et les Cosaques, ils s'intéressaient à l'invasion des Tatars et Cosaques en 1650 et au mariage de la fille du prince Basile et le fils de Bogdan Chmilnitzki, l'hetman cosaque. Après ce mariage en 1652, la Moldavie a été perdue pour la Pologne, mais la chute du prince Basile en 1653 et la guerre de la Transylvanie et Valachie contre les Cosaques ont créé une nouvelle possibilité de la reconstruction des influences polonaises dans ce pays. Les relations exactes des nonces, que nous avons, sont une bonne source pour une connaissance de tous ces événements et surtout le rapport personnel du roi Jean Casimir à la Moldavie et son prince, Basile Lupul.

    Najstarsze dokumenty pergaminowe (XIV-XVII wieku) w zbiorach rękopisów Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej KUL

    W referacie zaprezentowano wybór szesnastu dyplomów pergaminowych, znajdujących się w zbiorach rękopiśmiennych Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej KUL. Przedstawiono je w porządku chronologicznym, opatrzono dokładnym opisem fizycznym i regestami. Wykaz uzupełniono uwagami proweniencyjnymi, komentarzem źródłowym i bibliograficznym. Omawiane dokumenty należą do jednych z najcenniejszych i najbardziej interesujących pod względem historycznym dokumentów pergaminowych dotyczących Lublina i Lubelszczyzny od XIV do XVII wieku. Stanowią bogaty materiał źródłowy, istotny do poznania stosunków politycznych, gospodarczych i społecznych ziem dawnego województwa lubelskiego. Wśród nich są między innymi oryginały pięciu przywilejów handlowych dla Lublina (Elżbiety Łokietkówny z 1371 roku, Ludwika Węgierskiego z 1376, Kazimierza Jagiellończyka z 1460, Aleksandra Jagiellończyka z 1503 i Zygmunta Augusta z 1570 roku), siedemnastowieczna kopia wydanego przez Piotra Firleja w 1543 roku przywileju lokacyjnego dla Lewartowa, oryginały dwóch przywilejów cechu piekarskiego nadane przez Zygmunta III Wazę w Lublinie w 1595 i 1611 roku, oryginał zabezpieczenia dóbr Wysokie dla Urszuli Kaszowskiej, zatwierdzony przez sędziego ziemskiego lubelskiego Piotra Firleja w 1499 roku, a także przywilej na odbywanie jarmarków, wydany przez Jana Kazimierza w 1665 roku dla miasteczka Czemierniki, będącego własnością Jana i Andrzeja Firlejów. Większość z nich wciąż uważanych jest za zaginione, a niektóre w ogóle nie były znane i nie uwzględniano informacji w nich zawartych w żadnych publikacjach naukowych. Celem referatu jest przywrócenie tych źródeł nauce oraz zwrócenie uwagi na cenne, aczkolwiek mniej znane, zasoby rękopiśmienne Biblioteki KUL.

    Obraz męki Chrystusa w XIX-wiecznych ulotnych drukach jarmarczno-odpustowych

    A few types of Passion prints were distributed at the markets and church fairs in Poland. Leaflets with narrative religious songs were among them and they are the ones which come under scrutiny in this text. The analysis of such prints with Passion songs, which were found in a few libraries, allows to state that the aim of these works was to remind Passion scenes which arose strong religious emotions. In these simple works, addressed to the commons, a strong emphasis was put on the humanity of characters as well as the human aspect of their experiences. (the key role in the description of the Passion was played by Mary, who shared sufferings of her Son). At the same time typical medieval means of representations were used in this form of work such as drastic scenes and moralizing tone, things which affected the uncomplicated mentality of the receivers and became embedded in the collective memory. Finally, these leaflets were characterized by the repetition of a general tendency of the medieval piety: subjectivism, realism and dolorism.

    Struktura terytorialna diecezji lubelskiej w latach 1805-1808

    The above text continues the issues contained in the article which appeared in the previous (94) volume of this academic journal. It concerns the process of marking the boundaries of the diocese of Chełm and Lublin, which originated the diocese of Lublin in 1805. The leitmotif of this article is historical and geographical analysis of the territorial formation of the diocese of Lublin from the moment of issuing the foundation bull to the year when all the directives from the bull were implemented, and the structure of deaneries and parishes for the new diocese was completely established. The article focuses on the boundary delimitation of the diocese of Lublin and shows the problems connected with the organization of its territorial structures, and above all problems arising from the modification in the existing structure of deaneries and parishes. Cartographic presentation of the parts of diocese of Lublin and its territorial organization enables to make comparative analysis of the contents of the foundation bull for the diocese of Lublin and its later deanery and parish structure, which was legitimized after 1807. The boundary instability of the diocese of Chełm and Lublin, which was the result of the changes in the delimitation due to the partition of Poland beginning at the end of the 18th century, is the reason why this article is accompanied by a few maps, the aim of which is to illustrate each and every modification to the boundaries of the diocese of Chełm and Lublin and to show its parts along with the marked capitals of the deaneries.

    Szkoła salezjanek w Łodzi 1930-1963

    Ordensschwestern aus der Kongregation der Töchter Maria Hilfe der Christen (Don-Bosco-Schwestern) kamen nach Łódź auf das Ersuchen hin des Diözesanbischofs Wincenty Tymieniecki im Jahre 1930. Sie gründeten ihre erste Niederlassung in Franciszkańska-Strasse Nummer 85. Sofort nach der Ankunft riefen sie mehrere Werke ins Leben, u.a. die Private Mädchengewerbeschule für Schneiderinnen (Prywatna Żeńska Szkoła Krawiecko-Bieliźniarska). Seit dem Beginn des zweiten Weltkrieges bis Februar 1940 durften die Don-Bosco-Schwestern als einzige die Berufsschule für Schneiderinnen (Zawodowa Szkoła Krawiecka) noch legal führen. Nach dem Ende des zweiten Weltkrieges nahm die Private Mädchengewerbeschule für Schneiderinnen der Don-Bosco-Schwerstern ihren Betrieb wieder auf. Unter den sozialistischen Machthabern ging sie den gleichen Weg wie andere Einrichtungen in privater und/oder kirchlicher Trägerschaft in Polen. Die verhältnismässig ruhige Zeit des Wiederaufbaus war im Laufe des Schuljahres 1948-1949 endgültig zu Ende. Seither bis 1963 rangen die Don-Bosco-Schwestern unermüdlich um die Aufrechterhaltung ihrer Einrichtung. Dagegen Beamten „neuer” Macht wandten folgende Druckmethoden an: ständige Schulvisitationen, die zum Vorwand dienten, immer neue Obliegenheiten aufzuerlegen; Verbot der Aufnahme neuen Schuljahrgangs, das der Schulaufhebung gleichzusetzen war; verschiedene Tricks, um das ideologieresistente Personal aus der Schule zu entfernen (so musste beispielsweise Schuldirektorin Sr. Maria Lipińska ihren Posten aufgeben), misslungene Versuche, in der Schule kommunistische Jugendorganisationen zu etablieren, wie z.B. Verbund der Polnischen Jugend (Związek Młodzieży Polskiej), „Dienst an Polen” („Służba Polsce”), Gesellschaft für Polnisch-Sowjetische Freundschaft (Towarzystwo Przyjaźni Polsko-Radzieckiej); Aufforderung zum Begehen kommunistischer Feiern mit Gesprächsrunden, Appellen, Gedächtnisstunden und Wandausstellungen in der Schule; Vorladungen an die am meisten widerständischen Don-Bosco-Schwestern zur Kultusabteilung (Wydział ds. Wyznań) und zum Sicherheitsamt (Urząd Bezpieczeństwa), wo man ihnen Zusammenarbeit vergebens abzwingen wollte. Das reiche Repertoire an „Motivationsmethoden” gehörte jedoch derzeit zu gewöhnlicher Staatspolitik gegenüber den Ordensgemeinschaften. Die private Mädchenberufsschule der Don-Bosco-Schwerstern wurde 1963 aufgelöst als die letzte katholische Bildungseinrichtung in Łódź. Ihr langes Bestehen war auf der einen Seite dem hartnäckigen Widerstand der Schulleitung zu verdanken und auf der anderen Seite der Tatsache, dass die Stadtverwaltung 1961 vor Schulschliessung zurücktrat mit der Begründung, die Schuhräumlichkeiten seien für die kommunalen Zwecke untauglich.
